vaalen -> Malware issue according to Kaspersky (12/8/2017 10:56:33 PM)

I installed the game on steam, seemingly with no problem. The first time i tried to launch it, my Kaspersky antivirus sent up a box stating they were deleting malware. A follow up box stated that the item deleted was almost certainly Malware. I have had Kaspersky for years, and this is the first time it has done something like this with a game.

I tried launching the game, and was informed the game could not launch because there was a problem with the path.

I then checked the integrity of the steam cache for the game, and was informed that a file was missing, which would be required. When the file was reacquired, I tried launching the game, and Kaspersky sopped it, just as before, with the exact same sequence and message boxes.

I then checked the cache, got the same missing file restored, tried to start the game, and the whole sequence repeated.

I have many matrix and Sliterine games on steam, and Kaspersky has never before found a problem with any of them. This includes the battlefront version of the game, which was not on steam. That version had no response from Kaspersky.

At this point, I am at a loss about what to do.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

The reason you have issues is because Kapersky IS the malware, posing as anti-virus software.

Please patch it guys

it's called a false positive and you need to add the game to a white or safe list, so it doesn't get scanned etc, there's nothing wrong with the game or files, it's the scanner etc, simple as that

100% clean

and the scan results

Yes, but it is a problem of the game. I have hundreds of games but no one has a problem with kaspersky. It can't be an option to deaktivate the scan for these two parts.

https://support.kaspersky.co.uk/11444

or

https://support.kaspersky.co.uk/7913

or just add both

just another false one to add to the ever growing list, there will be no patch, as it's not broken, so none needed imo, just some basic rule changes needed and a smarter product

I cannot click on the Kaspersky links you provided. If you could enable us to do so, it would be useful.

I have exactly the same experience in this as you do. Hundreds of games on my computer, not one has ever had a problem with Kaspersky. Until this one. And I have had Kaspersky for many years.

Thank you, Zackblood, both for testing the files and for coming up with a resolution that should work.

Anti virus false positives are not something you can patch to fix. It's not a bug in the game. The virus checker needs to not falsely identify it as a virus.

vaalen -> RE: Malware issue according to Kaspersky (1/3/2018 4:30:30 PM)

This problem is not resolved, and I request help from the developer.

Kaspersky will not allow this game to be put on the exception list.

I a steam thread on the same subject, a player was told by Kaspersky tech support that there was something in the copy protection that created a serious weakness that hackers could exploit. In other words, Kaspersky is not saying that the files are malware, but that they create a vulnerability to hackers.

Regardless of the reason, we who have Kaspersky cannot play the game.

Kaspersky had done a perfect job in protecting my computer the last several years, doing much better than previous av systems.

I respectfully request that the developers look into fixing this issue so I can play this amazing game again.

Aurelian -> RE: Malware issue according to Kaspersky (1/3/2018 5:53:34 PM)

The developer can't fix it as stated above as it is a Kapersky problem. It doesn't trip my Windows Defender or IObit Malware, for example. And if they could, and those two trip, then what?
