Here are my guidelines for play. Wondered if anyone has similar style. I base my units movement per turn on their general health. Dark greens can go 100% movemment points, light green 75%, yellow 50%, orange 25%, red don't move. I always digin. Never use ignore losses unless it's for an immediate political objective. Oranges and reds only ever attack with min. losses. Reds defend at min. losses. Artillery, HQs, and other support units are almost always set to minimize losses while in the rear. I autistically keep my formations cohesive on the map. If their front elements are all yellow or worse then they rest as a formation group. I also constantly check supply levels and routes so I get an instinctive sense of future turn conditions.
Compared to the AI I'm a very competent opponent. Expierenced human opponents would no doubt destroy me if I play this "realistic" method.

I like your methods. Your health color policy reminds me of my personal rule to rest the red ones, move the yellow
ones and shoot the green ones, and yes I get creamed when I play a human. Karri and I were playing FITE one time and I
happened upon some intel he posted and was shocked to find out that ALL his Axis units were cherry red. All of them.
He'd been driving them like that since the beginning of the game and we were on turn 30 or something like that. So
these younger whipper snappers don't quite get it......that it's a simulation of real life.

As long as units are in supply when turn ends ( receive supply ) i dont worry too much bout health when i attack. Healthy units are overrated.

See calculation below from the manual. Someone explained this to me years ago, cause i didnt understand why my opponent was blinky red and kept attacking.

19.1.3. Unit Combat Strength Calculation

Strength = equipment strength x (2 x proficiency +
readiness + supply) / 4

19.1.2. Unit Quality Calculation

Quality = (2 x proficiency + readiness) / 3

Yeah the 'general health' icon needs to be prorated for the equivalent efficiency of each attributes modifier on the combat model. Instead of averaging them which isn't a real evaluation because they're equations are so different. Generally though green health will give much better results than red no matter the variety of difference so, I wouldn't recommend ever attacking on red.

Jukipo -> RE: Style of Play (1/12/2018 8:06:20 AM)

I never attack on red and I try not to move either. When playing D21 most of my units are yellow or orange. If you wait for supplies, you never reach Moscow before winter and the war is lost.
