Jarhead -> From Utah to the Rhine, Please Help! (5/26/2003 3:02:30 AM)

I am currently playing this campaign and I am at battle 18. The battle is with the British against the Germans. I went to deploy my forces and found that the 2 Aux M3 halftracks with 17 pounder AT guns loaded each is actually two 2 man SAS squads loaded with a 17 pounder AT gun each. :mad: :confused: I am playing the campaign in version 7.1. Someone please help me correct this.:(

Rhodan -> (5/26/2003 3:34:06 AM)

****...good steroids those guys take..only shows why the SAS sets the standard for the rest of the world to follow :D

Jarhead -> BUMP (5/27/2003 2:27:43 PM)

Just bumpin it to the top. Must be STEROIDS them boys run around the battlefield at around 20 mph with that darn AT gun on their backs. :D Pretty strong fellas.:rolleyes:

Sounds like a OOB issue. If so I dont see how you can fix it. Sorry.

Jess

Check the dates on your OOB's. This link is for the latest ones.

That may be the issue.

I checked my OOB's and I have the most current ones. I thought their was a way to change the units in an individual sceanario from a campaign? I thought that by changing the battle to a sceanario then going into the sceanario editor you could change the unit? Or maybe was it Freds Editor. :confused:

If you change it to a scenario and delete and add units, you will also delete any waypoints any of the units have set, but it is possible to rebuy units that are narfed like this.
thanks, John.

Curious ?
I am playing the same battle...and of course I have latest OOBs and same problem...

I have not the answer on the contrary I have QUITE the same perplexity...

things to do should be :
a) try to reinstall your older OOBs for the british..

b) open OOB editor..find that unit and check its class...during further releases it is possible some equipment is changed or shifted..that is often responsible for such kind of errors...
in my battle I simply ignored the problem..but only changing British OOBs for that unit will restore correct icon..
0 - value into icon field for that unit will load default shape icon for that class of unit...so just check class for the first step...

ALSO REMEMBER that if you can't fix it you have to suddenly write to Bryan Melvin (or Stuart Millis ) and tell it to him so that the fix will be included into the new OOB release...
you will find a thread around here wher to input such problems..you are stilll in time to make this error to be corrected !

Hey Jarhead. Let me offer a word of explanation. I designed Utah to the Rhine was with version 4.0 and has never been updated to the latest 7.1 version.

If you can find the name of the battle you are fighting in that campaign, I'll update that file for you. Send me the name to me at

bwilder@bellsouth.net

I'll certainly take the time to get it right for you.

If any of the rest of you see anything that needs fixing, let me know...WB

Wild Bill -> (5/29/2003 11:04:56 AM)

Okay, I saw it is battle 18. I'll take a look at it tonight and if I get it fixed, I'll let you know.

Wild Bill

Wild Bill -> (5/29/2003 11:30:59 AM)

Okay. It is indeed an error in the OOB files. I did not realize that I designed this campaign 2 1/2 years ago. My, how time flies.

Anyway, the problem was that the M-3 halftrack slot was moved around. I have it fixed now with half-tracks and 18 pounders, so if any of you will send me your address, I'll send it to you.

Just unzip this file into your campaign directory in SPWAW. It will overwrite the older file with the one I have just revised.

Any problems, let me know.

Wait, I think I see how to attach a file. Let me know if this downloads okay for you. Unzip into campaigns directory once you have it

Jarhead, the procedure you mentioned in making the change is the correct one.

Rename the campaign file as a scenario file.

In this case c004s018.dat (the C=campaign, 004=slot in campaign list, 018=Scenario slot #, and dat means it is a scenario file.

You could rename it anything, scenXXX.dat. Just remember where you put it or you won't find it. For ease, just use slot 000, since you don't need the tutorial or can remove it temporarily to open the slot.

Edit it. Save it. Then rename it again c004s018.dat and transfer it back into the campaign directory or folder.

That is how you do it...Wild Bill

Jarhead -> THANKS Wild Bill!!!!! (5/30/2003 6:31:11 AM)

THANK YOU :cool: :D :D :D ;)

Wild Bill -> (5/31/2003 2:51:51 AM)

Anytime, Jarhead. I owe you one. I owe anyone at least one who has endured Parris Island :eek:

If you see anything else, let me know. We'll fix it quick.

Thanks for the kind note...WB
