I downloaded tonight and it took about a minute to complete the download. Hmm.. Time to get some services upgraded.

No problems on install if the directions followed as prescribed. As previous owner, uninstall first and install new, and it works fine.

And it is free as an update to previous version, so what is the rip off?

From what I have experimented with so far, great job on the update. Looking forward to Vietnam and East Front part I. Great series.

alanarv -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 4:31:29 AM)

The problem is in the download. I am not the only one who has had problems with the down load. Not only does it take an exceedingly long time to down load, but it ends up being a corrupted copy as well. This has always been a problem with game downloads. Some get them fast and uncorrupted, others such as myself seem to get them slow and always corrupted. This is $19.95 wasted. Now I am going to forced to buy the boxed version for $50.00. In fact, this may be Matrix's business strategy all along, lure the buyer in with the download, then when buyer has innumerable problems with the down load, offer the boxed version as an alternative. The old "Bait and Switch" trick.

I am trying to download since yesterday with no luck too...[:(]

Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 5:51:17 AM)

I am sorry to hear that guys, wish I could do something about it... I wonder if the download servers have mirror sites you could try in case the main site fails? As many have posted, I had no issues with download either. Seems strange it works for some bot not for the other [&:]

budd -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 6:53:04 AM)

Did you guys open a support ticket? The one and only time I had trouble with a download, support provided me with an alternate download site. It was awhile ago, not sure if that's still the case but I'm sure they could figure out something.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 7:53:26 AM)

Strangely, I have had no problems, I did not get ripped off, and I was not baited then switched. What have I done wrong ? [sarcasm intended]

As an auto-mechanic, sometimes the only diagnosis for a car problem is a 'loose nut behind the steering wheel' [;)]

Franciscus -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 8:11:59 AM)

This is the first time I have had this problem, and I know it is not a ruse by Matrix !!

Matrix is top-notch in their support and absolutely honest as vendor. [&o]

I have opened a ticket.

The problem with downloading and installing relates to-

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=4421448

AVAST and some other AV software are the culprits,e.g.if you get a 421 IP address blocked message or the installation hangs/screws up.

In my case no.

I use the Windows 7 built-it AV and firewall, nothing else, since many years I

Cablenexus -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/20/2018 7:22:14 PM)

I have the same problem downloading from my 100 mbit connection from Amsterdam. I can't get more then 50 kb/s for the 2.0 version and it's interrupted frequently.

VegasOZ -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/21/2018 5:25:47 AM)

After a few days of playing this new 2.0 version I'm pretty UPSET with the results...

I have always played with the 3D units...BUT... Now the new 2D units with the great looking Unit Graphics on them are causing me to have to play one turn with the 3D and then play the next turn with the new 2D units...

I suppose I'll get over it someday...

LOL

Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/21/2018 5:40:30 AM)

Sheesh Vegas, you got me worried there for a moment! [:D]

Jafele -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/22/2018 11:23:31 AM)

Many thanks for keep updating this classic. [&o] IMO CS uses the more realistic turn-based system you can find out there (with Silent Storm permission [:D]).

Three63 -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/22/2018 6:01:47 PM)

I'm really kind of shocked you guys got rid of the whole music and real full screen game menu to replace it with a infobox, it's a shame. It's just puzzling really how anyone would think that's a improvement. I guess I'll install the old version, look at it, and then use the 2.0 infobox to start a game. I'm I missing something? Can I still change the settings to have a actual full game menu with music? No offense, but it's kinda silly to downgrade like that. I guess the new CS game will suffer the same thing instead a menu and music like the original EF, etc.

Three63 -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/22/2018 6:19:58 PM)

I failed to install two CS:ME's at the same time because one destroys the other even the old one takes out the new one. CAn anyone give any tips how I can browse the old menu 1.2 and still have 2.0 stocked on my PC?

Richard

Install both of them on your 2nd available partition, not under C:\Program Files (x86). E.g. The old CS ME under let's say d:\CSME and the new one under D:\Campaign Series Middle East. There won't be any conflicts.

That way you can swap, to your hearts content, the sound files etc.

Again, since Windows 7, installing especially games under C:\Program Files (x86) is (IMHO) not a good idea.

Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/22/2018 7:15:42 PM)

Also, try installing 2.0 first, then install 1.02, as I believe 2.0 installer looks for a previous one and wants it gone.

My +1 for against installing in the Programme Files (x86) folder.

Rosseau -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/24/2018 6:08:50 AM)

Maybe the second time I got a corrupted download via Matrix in 15 years. It was Avast. Turn it off as it is getting more aggressive, as it needs to be.

Beyond that, how many devs will install JSGME and many of the mods for you in the initial install? Great game, great support, and I've even gone back to JTCS for old time's sake. The $20 sale was like giving it away, imo. I paid full price at release, and still a bargain.

Jason Petho -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/24/2018 6:20:58 AM)

Thank you for the kind words, Rosseau.

Andrea G -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/26/2018 11:37:38 AM)

I have installed CSME 2.0 and played a couple of tutorials to spot the differences between the new and old version.

The pro's are realy upsetting the balance in favour of the 2.0, expecially the recon rule and I am sure I will notice many other improvements.

On the con's side I only regret the pop-up showing the units values when you did pass the cursor over it in the old version, I have read that it's an unavoidable loss but maybe a simpler pop-up with no-graphic informations?

Thanks to all the developers, great job, looking forward for the new games and DLC's.

Code Talker -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/26/2018 1:58:54 PM)

I downloaded the game last night in less than three minutes. It works great.

alanarv -> RE: Campaign Series: Middle East Version 2.0 is OUT! (1/27/2018 5:24:27 PM)

I have installed and uninstalled Middle East 2.0 five times and the result is always the same, a game that operates real slow and you can not even play the big scenarios because they will not load. I have since found out that this new version requires more computer power then most computers, even those with Windows 10, can give. You need a super computer to play this game. Oh sure, you can play a small scenario on it with no problem, but call up a medium or large scenario and the program fails. I called up a large scenario on the game, waited 15 minutes, and cancelled the request because the game could not load it. Congratulation Matrix, you have designed a game for the next generation of computers but its not doing us any good with the present generation or previous generations of computers. Loading up a game with a bunch or bells and whistles doesn't do you any good if you can not play it. Jumping from version 1.02 to 2.0 was too big a jump. You should have taken more steps like 1.03 and 1.04 before going to 2.0. Well its too late now. I have deemed version 2.0 a failure. Yes, a failure. A failure because you need an advanced computer to play it. I am going back to version 1.02 because I know that it will work because I have played it many times. This also calls into question future products such as East Front III and the Viet Nam game. If these games are gong to be on the same level as version 2.0 then Matrix will doing nothing but selling us a bill of goods.

I have a six year old standard store bought computer with W7 and this game works perfectly for me. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

I tested and played CSME 2.00 on a ~13-year-old Windows XP system here without issue. It ran fast enough, no problem. No problem either on the two ~11-year-old Win7 & Win8.1 test systems here. [8|]

Have you tried this? Or even this?

Hello all. I have been trying for 2 days to down load the game. It just sits and spins. No actual download starts. I have uninstalled 1.02 and turned off my anti virus. Running windows 10. Any ideas? thank you.

Kamerad

1) You tried/still trying to download the core version via the Matrix Games member website, correct?
2) You had your original CSME registered via Matrix Games, right?
3) The download did start at all?
4) In case you still can't download it, when you contact MG support, they will offer you an alternative download link.

Klink, Oberst
