3rd September 1941 The Summer campaigning season is almost over and the MLR has largely held firm excpet at two places. The following posts will serve as an over view of the current situation at the front from Karelia to Iran. Vyborg Area This region has been under attack since the Finnish declaration of War in July. Though Sortvala fell last week, the Finns have been kept away from Vyborg by a staunch defence. STAVKA strategy is based around a defence of attrition. The lessons of the 1939 Winter War have been learnt well and Finnish manpower resources, though hardy, are not deep. A line has been drawn that will act as the final line of retreat but so far the position holds. The 42nd and 55th Armies are so far doing well.
