Raskolnikov -> Who's afraid of the big bad... Tiger. (5/28/2003 9:05:47 AM)

It strikes me that there are a lot of people out there who can't even handle the idea of those little Kats.

So I thought I'd find out just how many and how much...:D

Rask.

I like to see them. That's alot of victory points ready to be had sitting in one spot!:cool:

sandman20 -> (5/28/2003 2:14:59 PM)

I respect them, I afraid them, I like to drive them and I love to kill them:D

SkidLid -> (5/28/2003 2:40:48 PM)

I think the Tiger has an unduly terrifying rep...its nothing a decent airstrike wont sort out though ;)

DerC -> (5/28/2003 5:36:23 PM)

I try to avoid direct confrontations with Tigers. I wouldn't call it being afraid, every situation calls for different tactics and frontal assaults usually don't work well against the Big Cats. ;) Thus, the second option.

Marek Tucan -> (5/28/2003 6:23:39 PM)

voted for 2... Depends on situation. Having only T-70s/Stuarts/75mm Shermans and 37mm/45mm AT-Guns I would use the advantage of a higher speed to run away:) (Does someone know the Discworld? Then I use Rincewind's basic philosophy:))
Having some tanks good in AT fire and/or some decent artillery I would try to carefully flank them or immobilise them and kill bailed out crews:)

Gary Tatro -> Fear them, NO (5/28/2003 7:30:53 PM)

Respect them, oh yeah. The mighty tiger deserves its reputation and respect. It is the ultimate tank of its time and has earned and deserves respect.

Now if you had said Kongstiger. That tanks is fear inspiring.

Vetkin -> (5/28/2003 7:55:09 PM)

If I don't have a flame-tank, at least a 75mm long barrel, satchel charges, flamethrowers, bazookas/other hand-held weapons, decent and accurate artillery... then I'll fear it.

IMagine standard infantry (rifle/smg, mg, grenades) standing against a Tiger in open/semi-open ground... shudder

It will be enough the 57mm ZIS-2 AT-Gun for me... That is if we are speaking about a normal Tiger I:)

Wolfleader -> (5/29/2003 1:45:28 AM)

I play the Germans almost exclusively (and also because I'm slogging through a 200 mission campaign as them)so I have yet to face a tiger on the opposing side. While I like the tiger my feelings towards it are motivated more by nostalgia (the first armor kit I built was a tiger tank) than anything else.

Personally I prefer the Panther and the Jagdpanthers. Fast moving and much harder hitting than the Tiger though not as heavily armored.

Irinami -> (5/29/2003 11:29:18 AM)

Only as good as their driver... sorta'.

It's like something I heard Siegfried or Roy talk about. See, they had the tigers for a long time. And over time, you get overconfident. Well, it just so happened that the tiger decided to put S or R back in his place... and mauled him. Pretty bad... but the scariest thing to him was that he knew the tiger could have done much, much worse. He said that after that encounter, he had a new respect for the Tiger... not fear, for that would encourage the Tiger... but respect for the awe-inspiring power the Tiger wields.

Still, there's always the Safari guns. ;)

Black Sabot -> (5/29/2003 6:05:15 PM)

Respect, yes. Fear, no
Usually I just try to avoid them and kill all the other Germans first;
Tigers are great, but they can't be everywhere at the same time.

Buzzard45 -> (5/29/2003 9:53:33 PM)

In the early years, Real caution and respect for the gun are needed.

After the APCR is widely available. Its just another tank. With big Victory points. Give two StuGs instead of one Tiger. Or better two 75Pak40s and HTs to carry them. They hide better.

What about the 88AA? Fear or more big points?

Vetkin -> (5/30/2003 8:22:39 PM)

88s can usually pounded into submission (crew bailing out) by a variety of weapons... just pressure them hehehe
