1275psi -> 1275psi vs Miller (1/27/2018 12:50:13 AM)

Scene 1, stock, PDU off
Only house rule, no PP to be paid for India, china and Manchurian units, so
Burma will be interesting

This AAR, will be a what Japan is doing to give
Millers comments context
Not sure if he is doing an AAR yet

I am torn to do another story..............but little ship that could editing is getting on.

As Japan I am going to try a tactic I personally have not seen on the AARs, but that
has worked twice now with allied concessions late 42
Japan will only sieze DEI, Burma, Darwin, and as far south I will go is Hollandia, horn island.
All those troops usually used for Solomons and Port Moresby will go into a ready reaction
counterattack, and to fortify a much reduced defensive ring

And the fleet , the fleet will wait for one great decisive battle............

Welcome Back! The forum has definitely missed both you and Miller. Fair winds and smooth sailing! [sm=character0085.gif]

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/27/2018 1:58:42 AM)

Looking forward to your new encounter. Certainly will be keeping tabs on how you fare with the reduced ring of fire.

zuluhour -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/27/2018 11:10:43 AM)

NO! Not the one decisive battle! LOL!! best of luck sir.

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/27/2018 9:45:34 PM)

We begin

KB smashes Manilla port, sinks a lot of nasty SS
Tinian airforce does not fly................so the invasion pauses,
going to have to sweep the skies a bit

Stock standard landings in Malaya
POW spotted exiting via mallacca straight
Battlestar BOISE and Houston near Jolo island........

Lots of units moving in CHina, hes running away. No hurry here.

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/28/2018 1:00:58 AM)

Clearing out those submarines certainly does alleviate their bite and nuisance value.

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/28/2018 2:27:05 AM)

8 dec
He strikes Takao with B17's, misses
We sweep Iba, he doesn't show up

massacre of the innocents as his fleeing AKs from Hong kong are intercepted
The Brit DDs from Honkers are dealt with, our first naval battle.
Khoto bharu is taken

seriously worried about his phillipine air force hitting my invasions

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/28/2018 2:56:56 AM)

What is KB up to now that you have used it on Manila. Hunting Boise and Houston? Are you considering using it to cover your landings? Best way to chew up his aerial assault on your precious transports. Not to mention getting some good experience for your fighter pilots (especially the newish pilots from Shokaku and Zuikaku). Just be wary of those Dutch and Brit subs. And those hit and run raiders that can pop up from nowhere.

Bif1961 -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/29/2018 12:38:08 AM)

Good luck looking forward to seeing how your tight defensive ring fares.

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/29/2018 8:41:08 AM)

Dec 9
Another poor day with all my sweeps over the Philippines un contested.
I bomb Iba, fair results

Still a very stock landing in Malaya, and I see a lot of run away, run away in china, ships
and some planes .
Lots of stuff at sea, the real invasions soon begin

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/29/2018 9:37:51 AM)

Looking forward to seeing which bases you decided to hit first up. Maybe those tricksey Allies are be looking to contest your landing with cleverly positioned surface forces. Good luck.

John 3rd -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/29/2018 3:00:59 PM)

'Tricksey!'

Welcome back.

Good luck!

Word of warning, Miller is a very competent player, and will undoubtedly surprise you with what he can pull off. He gave me a good drubbing a few years back that resulted in the KB getting whacked off Java in early '42, so be careful!

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/30/2018 8:06:27 AM)

wake falls
Tarawa falls
Miri invaded
Kuching invaded
Aparri invaded

KB is off Kuching

terrible turn.....2 AOs sunk by dutch ss of Kuching, and another hit.........grrrrr
Made a decision
Story type AAR will commence with commissioning of BB Yamato

I must be a masochist, I know Miller is good, and the Penguin is beating me up too

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (1/30/2018 10:43:04 AM)

Could it be that Yamato is on a date with destiny. Looking to take part in the maximum number of battles to produce a blistering storyline. A front row seat for sure at the one battle to kill them all.

Those subs are the best thing going for the Dutch. They earn their keep.

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/1/2018 8:21:01 AM)

12 dec 41

japan seizes Jolo island, and instantly sets up 21st air flotilla
Aparri invasion fully successful, not a ship damaged by air attack
Manando is taken
Guam landings begin

Kuching and semberang are taken, and we continue to unload in Malaya

That's the positives, Honkers holds (crud die roll I think)against 2 divisions, so not good.
I think Miller is pulling his squadrons out, especially in the phillipines......

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/2/2018 9:31:54 PM)

13 Dec

Japanese troops land at Palembang.........KB covering
We discover where Miller has stacked his fighters, Ambon, Ryujo no longer has any kates.....uuugh
Troops swarming south from Aparri in the phillipines, and I order another attack at Hong kong

The great movement of troops from Manchuria has begun, I do not intend to use them
in China, but march to Burma very much as agreed in the house rules
Planes begin operating out of Jolo island, and Kuching.....attacking yet more fleeing refugees

no sign of Boise, Houston or the dutch squadrons........scary

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/3/2018 2:54:59 AM)

14 dec
Well, we find the Dutch, at Ambon
3 heavy Japanese cruisers, 4 destroyers vs the Dutch ships, plus the Marblehead
and 4 DDs
A series of rolling battles
Dutch lose De Ruyter, java, and the Marblehead goes as well
We suffer a DD heavily damaged.

Palembang is taken, undamaged!!!

The tentacles are spreading

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/3/2018 6:01:55 AM)

Great pick up to get Palembang so quickly. Great to have KB handy to do the covering for this invasion. Then again not so great to find his fighters like that.

Good work clearing out some of those light cruisers too.

Looks like a good start so far.

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/4/2018 3:07:01 AM)

15 Dec
Hong Kong continues to hold
We keep unloading in Malaya, and advance south in the Phillipines from Aparri
Sorong taken.

BBs Mutsu and nagato waste valuable 16 inch shells on axls near Palua.......buggar,
the port there is not yet size 4 nor has the AKEs arrived.

Miller I think is concentrating key forces in Singapore and Ambon

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/4/2018 3:09:15 AM)

16 Dec
Just one thing that matters
Air raid north of Singapore meets 60 P40B, and 80 buffaloes
Well then..........

So, concentrating at Ambon, and Singapore
.

I will concentrate too;;;;;;;

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/11/2018 7:05:10 AM)

20 Dec
Troops continue to pour ashore in Malaya, and the phillipines

He has concentrated his fighters in Singapore, and I have concentrated as well, but no clash yet.

16th army begins its move towards Ambon, Dilli and Kendari.
Akagi takes a SS torp whilst covering...aaaargh!

In China Miller has scattered troops everywhere, it wack a mole at the moment

I am not planning much for China, its get troops uncounted to Burma front

Turns are flipping, and its been a fun game so far.

Miller is tricksie !!!!

obvert -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/11/2018 7:15:14 AM)

Just got into this. Like the idea of the smaller Japanese conquest followed by a strong defence and a mobile counterattack reserve. Can't wait to see how it pans out.

Good to see you two going strong here again!

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/14/2018 8:47:12 AM)

21 Dec

We land at Dilli, Ambon, beola, and Kendari in one big operation covered by KB

This is all standard stuff, we have all seen it before

What I am doing different is 15th army is deployed in Malaya, and the honkers div is going to the phillipines

Miller has evacuated to Singapore, is fleeing to Bataan.
Every Sally is bombing Manilla, and all the lilly bombers are in Malaya
China, whack a mole continues

Fun game

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/17/2018 8:55:51 PM)

Ambon taken
Kendari taken
We land in Timor
21st div storms ashore at Darwin

Allied bombers massed at Singapore are caught on the ground

He strikes shipping at Palembang

Manilla is taken

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/17/2018 10:42:08 PM)

What is the situation with Akagi. Is she still operating or did she have to be pulled out for repair.

What did you find at Darwin?

1275psi -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/18/2018 3:08:59 AM)

24 DEC

Hi

Akagi is home safe, a month in docks

Darwin is taken after 2 days, he had a few extra troops in there
Dilli is taken, so is Koepang.
Huge problem at Singapore, lightly, or totally unescorted Lillys and 2 squadrons of Betties
attack Singapore, and meet 80 plus P40's!, 80 plus brewsters

Its not pretty

Also, a CV has been unloaded somewhere, carrier DBs, devastators and their Brewster escorts were
in Timor, and smashed 10 AK's.
They have vanished

This only confirms my tactic of cutting the re supply line to the DEI

Miller is going to concentrate I think everywhere, my tactic, I think, is to do the same, crack one nut at time

SierraJuliet -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/18/2018 3:30:13 AM)

A difficult proposition. How to counter an early war concentration of Allied forces. What is your plan for cutting the Allied line of supply. You certainly have a tricky opponent who is prepared to offload carrier planes and use them in unexpected locations.

Those unfortunate Bombers over Singapore. Have you tried any sweeps and did the escort decide to have a day of peace?

A shame to lose the services of Akagi at this time but at least she will return.

PaxMondo -> RE: 1275psi vs Miller (2/19/2018 1:52:44 AM)

You have 30 days to use the Akagi groups as LBA ... they are a potent force ...
