Ozz022 -> Supply from cities (1/28/2018 5:57:28 PM)

I'm play Germany and I'm confident I understand the rail supply system but the instructions stated that units and HQ's can also draw supplies from captured cites if they are on or next to the city. I've had HQ's sitting on cities for multiple turns and I've seen no use of the supplies and fuel from any of the cities or towns that had supplies stocked when captured. I've checked the captured city stocks at the beginning of the turns when I have HQ's sitting on them, and there is no drop in the number of supplies or fuel on the rare case I capture a town with fuel stocks.Is something I need to do in order for HQ's to use these supplies?

Denniss -> RE: Supply from cities (1/28/2018 7:09:20 PM)

They need to selct such a city as supply source. AFAIR this is only possible with a working rail connection or if the unit is isolated with the city close by.

KenchiSulla -> RE: Supply from cities (1/28/2018 7:27:44 PM)

As far as I am aware the units will draw supply from cities connected to the supply grid (rail or sea) and only if it cannot fully resupply from HQ (out of range or not enough available in the HQ). The location of supply is not really relevant in WitE as it flows freely. What is important (for axis) is the x-coordinate of the depot town or city on the rail line as that determines modifier for rail supply.

Typical axis supply / fuel draw:

- Game calculates the Corps need for supply and fuel (determined by amount and type of units connected to it)
- Corps tries to draw full supply to meet its needs
- Amount in Phase one is modified for rail (if depot is X100 then 50% modifier), MP and absolute hex distance from HQ to depot and possible blizzard penalties. This supply and whatever was stored in HQ is pushed to units
- Amount in Phase two is modified for rail, MP and distance and stored in HQ for next turn

- Division in HQ draws supply from HQ if it is in range
- Division draws from depot if it is not in HQ range

20.4.2.1. Receiving Supply from City and Urban Hexes
Units can draw supplies or fuel directly from a city or urban hex if they are in or adjacent to the hex. Units other than headquarter units may only do this in the second supply sub-segment, while headquarter units may do this in both supply sub-segments

I've been keeping my HQ's on the captured cities with stocks based on this but this doesn't happen?

SparkleyTits -> RE: Supply from cities (1/29/2018 3:56:28 AM)

Perhaps the word "can" is not the best worded way to communicate the mechanic as it could seem to mean that once all other available options to draw supply have been exhausted "then" it will draw supply from nearby cities

If that is the case then it would help alleviate situations where MP to supply was unable to be supplied by normal means (Over 100 MP to rail or pocketed) giving them a temporary way to stay relatively supplied instead of being used as an injection in supplies and fuel to continue on the offensive

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (1/29/2018 4:46:22 AM)

OK. So does anyone know how/when/under what circumstances does a HQ or unit sitting on or next to a captured city with supplies and or fuel can draw said supplies? I know it must be possible or it wouldn't be listed.

KenchiSulla -> RE: Supply from cities (1/29/2018 7:27:36 AM)

Probably when isolated, as ST mentioned

56ajax -> RE: Supply from cities (1/29/2018 8:34:01 AM)

Or the rail line to the city hasn't been converted yet?

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (1/29/2018 12:15:47 PM)

During my "mud" turns when most were isolated, there was no draw from the captured stocks and I had HQ's sitting right on the city hexes

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (1/30/2018 1:23:40 AM)

I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to look through the forums to see if anyone else has brought this up and I guess I'm doing the forum search incorrectly because just typing the single word 'supply' brings up no return let alone anything else with more words to it. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

SparkleyTits -> RE: Supply from cities (1/30/2018 3:29:42 AM)

Sorry mate I don't know then I know supply can be drawn when pocketed so assumed it could be used in the same manner if isolated too but I guess not

I would like to know how this works too if one of the powers that be that could give us a quick answer [:D]

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (1/30/2018 9:12:56 PM)

I posed the same question in the QnA forum but there hasn't been any response. Is the a place(after I make a suitable sacrifice of course) that the powers that be will answer questions?

Telemecus -> RE: Supply from cities (1/31/2018 2:38:41 PM)

I thought it was answered by the isolated point?

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (1/31/2018 6:21:38 PM)

During my mud turns when all were isolated, I thought that as well but there was no draw from the captured cities and towns that had stocks of supplies. That was units and HQ's. I was hopscotching my HQ's from stocked town to town thinking that was the case but nothing was drawn and all the units of course lost their supplies during the isolated turns.
I've tried using the 'search term' at the bottom of this page, and everything I put in keeps coming with 'nothing found'.

Telemecus -> RE: Supply from cities (1/31/2018 6:29:45 PM)

to go any further others would need to see screenshots - the cities supplies beafore and after, the unit supply details before and after etc.

If you search with too brod a terms like "supply" it will return no results

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 1:05:42 AM)

Well the city/town supplies is easy, it doesn't change. Every turn with my units isolated or not. As far as screenshots go, are you saying you and/or others can draw supplies from captured towns with supplies because no one has chimed in saying they do it and how?

Telemecus -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 1:08:50 PM)

Every turn I look at the unit supply details and it gives a clear indication of which city it is drawing supplies from. it also shows in the logistics log that the cities are getting stockpiled again with supplies. We can talk you through an example if it is a misunderstanding, or uncover a bug if it is not. You are absolutely sure of what you say but without an example to work through we really cannot even discuss it or work it out?

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 6:04:36 PM)

I went back to the instructions and nothing came up on doing screenshots. I went to the 'search term' and typed in screenshot with multiple words added and of course it came up with nothing as usual. I have no idea why that search term option is even there. I'm sure I could answer many of my own questions without bothering all of you if I could JUST access the previous thread terms.
All right for example I've had my LVII Panzer corp with a infantry unit support on Kalinin for 6 turns now even during mud turns when they were isolated. Kalinin has shown the entire time Supply 493 and Fuel 393. It has never dropped even when the supplies for the units was almost to zero (corp and the infantry). Right now while in blizzard conditions when little is getting through it shows the supply source as Nedidovo.

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 6:10:44 PM)

Alright, someone just told me how to do the Search term option

Telemecus -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 6:27:34 PM)

I went back to the instructions and nothing came up on doing screenshots.

Screenshots are not to do with the WitE program. You do them with another program like snipping tool which is built into windows.

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 7:07:14 PM)

This current during blizzard, after 6 turns with sitting on a city with supplies and fuel that hasn't been touched. I've checked every turn-495 and 393. And of course it's not just this town and city but all that have been captured with supplies while isolated and not.

Denniss -> RE: Supply from cities (2/1/2018 9:53:41 PM)

You are way ahead of your last working rail head by 17 hexes. As explained cities may only work as supply source if they are connected via rail to your homeland or if you have otherwise isolated/surrounded units with the city in the surrounded area.

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/2/2018 12:38:37 AM)

I'm sorry I'm being slow on the uptake. I realize that you're saying that the supply draw from a captured city only happens when isolated but as I've stated previously, that's not the case that I've been able to see. This screenshot is from the next turn after I captured this city and also the first turn that the mud isolated the units and this is the same amount of supply and fuel that is still in the city several turns later.

Ozz022 -> RE: Supply from cities (2/3/2018 2:26:45 AM)

I've been trying to find other threads that brought this up and I found this example stating that it is tapped into during isolation but my previous post shows the amount this one city had prior to the mud turns where all is isolated and there was no tap into city stocks

KenchiSulla -> RE: Supply from cities (2/3/2018 5:20:05 AM)

Ozz, in game terms the units are isolated (due to distance to railhead) but they are trying to pull supply from the supply grid. the cities are not part of it... Sorry, that is the way it works.
