Crackaces -> Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/6/2018 2:47:51 PM)

[sarcasm=on]

Dedicated to HardLuckYetAgain, and with honorable mention to M60 I want to post an insane ground support battle report as pictured below. This is after we have destroyed over 8000 aircraft in 12 turns!?!
Also note -- NO SOVIET LOSSES! I believe the developers need to completely rewrite the OOB as the Soviets are way too powerful ... [:'(]
[sarcasm=off]

[For those that wonder what happened ... a recon spam (was not me [8D] ) exceeded the game parameters and the battle reports became corrupted. But I could not resist [;)]
)

Stelteck -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/6/2018 2:50:42 PM)

No damage for any side !! This is treason !!!!!

Telemecus -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/6/2018 2:57:07 PM)

As an Axis recon fanboy I want to say how proud I am of those pilots that they joined their brother fighter and bomber pilots, picked up some grenades and pistols, and went to join in on the dogfight. And how that German infantry and artillery got into the sky heaven knows. But a great team effort!

I suppose at this point I should say, unusually, this was not done by me either.

So come on guys - post your screenshots of the insanely OP Soviet side!

SparkleyTits -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/6/2018 3:03:50 PM)

I want to say I wish it was not done by me either!! [:D]

On tonight's show of To Tell the Truth, which one of our 3 guests was the real recon spammer?

Interesting, but I don't know why this would be dedicated to me ;-P. I have worked on my addiction and have changed ways, somewhat......

I'll vouch for that. Now he's just drawing straight lines instead of more elaborate arrows. But the meaning is still clear. [;)]

I have always drawn straight lines with Recon leaving a hex or two between them to saturate coverage. Not often but it does happen the recon will miss a unit. But very rare during that saturation.

I have yet to draw any arrows yet. I had the urge but the time is not ready.............. yet.

Better? I have another one that is animated where the panther starts with an empty paw, a star appears in the claws, cracks form in the star, then the star gets swiped to nothing by the panther. The only problem is I haven't worked on putting it up.

Telemecus -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/6/2018 4:54:26 PM)

I forecast by next year we will have pixelated recon battle reports pictures of the Mona Lisa, Van Goghs, ...

ICalli -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/26/2018 10:53:24 PM)

Can I get some pointers on how to get that quantity of air power for the SOV side in turn 12?

Telemecus -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/27/2018 1:47:52 PM)

Those who play a lot as Soviet can give better advice. Here are some general ideas - but you would probably be better off ask more specific questions on particular examples.

- rotate low morale groups in and out of reserve every turn
- do not put your airbases where they can be bombed by the Germans (too much); and place them optimally for your missions
- manage your upgrade and replacement settings to get your best airgroups to have the most and best aircraft
- get lots of easy "wins" to give your air groups experience and morale - the Finnish air force is an easy one to pick on?
- understand and manage air doctrine properly
- do not spend all your airgroup miles driving aircraft over ground in bases - use them for flying!
- look at fatigue
- manually select which airgroups go to which missions when you can

AFV -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/27/2018 6:29:06 PM)

Does fatigue work the same with air units as ground units (50% fatigue reduces effectiveness 50%)?

Telemecus -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/27/2018 6:50:47 PM)

Not sure of the formula actually but if anything it seems to get more than proportionately worse. From experience it seems a fresh unit on its first mission can do multiples of what it can do after some fatigue enters. Which is why choosing the first mission your units do each turn is important.

AFV -> RE: Insanely overpowered Soviet Air Support (2/27/2018 11:07:59 PM)

Thanks Telemecus, will keep that in mind.

I think that really influenced the results in the Osinovents bombing trial. A few turns I bombed multiple airbases first then bombed Osinovets and my results were very poor at best. After realizing this with bringing in fresh Stukas and I saw 10% damage per run ..
