So i just noticed Close Combat is now on gog.com. The titles bridge too far, russian front, and battle of the bulge are among them. I would like to know if there is any difference between those older versions and the new matrix games iterations

No. It is the original games not the Matrix version. More games to come to GOG from slitherin in the near future https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_close_combat_series_5fb9b/post59

I wonder what ones, - would they be older ones that had been discontinued? like Starshatter or something?

Here's what slitherine posted on GOG a while ago: IainMcNeil:We'll have more games on GoG soon but they need to be selective to avoid overloading you! Yes we've agreed to let GoG bring the original CC games up to date so they'll run on modern OS's but without any in game changes. They're also selling some of the new games. The prices do not vary between sites, unless we run a specific promotion which is site specific, but the standard price is always the same on Matrix, Steam, GoG etc.

The Close Combat games temporarily available at a discount from GOG are: Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far (Developed by Atomic Games) - $5.39 U.S. Close Combat 3: The Russian Front (Developed by Atomic Games) - $5.39 U.S. Close Combat 4: The Battle of the Bulge (Developed by Atomic Games) - $5.39 U.S. Close Combat: Gateway to Caen (Developed by Slitherine) - $13.99 U.S. Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog (Developed by Matrix Games) - $13.99 U.S. It's too bad the original Close Combat is missing from the collection.
