It's actually 2 questions.

1) Can I create a new scenario from scratch and include units from different DB's?

2) Can I edit an existing scenario and add units from a DB it wasn't originally designed with?

I'm hankering for a fantasy flight where a squadron of every type of strategic bomber the US ever flew (at least starting with the B-36, not sure if the B-29 and or B-17 are included in the CWDB) tries to penetrate modern SAM defenses and drop some nukes. Among other things.

How many F8's does it take to shoot down an F-22? Etc.

Nope [8D]

Ah bummer. Oh well, one day maybe. Thanks for answering so quickly.

Is there a workaround for this involving loading units from a file? There's a box to check on that screen that says don't check for DB compatibility. Could I create some units in the CWDB, save them to a file, then import them using that option?

Well, technically, you can, but the unit IDs are not the same for each DB, so if you save a single unit airfield with an F-22 based at it, and load it into a scenario that uses the CWDB, it will become a Scud platoon.

So, I do not think checking that box will work. Something will load, but because, for example, there is no F-22 in the CWDB, an F-22 won't load. And because a Single Unit Airfield with a 500m long runway has a different unit ID in the CWDB from the DB3000 variant, none of the units you save in the DB3000 will load correctly in the CWDB.

You are welcome to try messing around with it though.

Someone (Baloogan??) made a scenario off of the movie in which a modern carrier goes through a time warp to intercede at Pearl Harbor on 7Dec1941...so there is a workaround to it... I will poke in here in the morning and try to find that thread, but his AAR sounded very cool.

There is not a workaround. That scenario, based on the 1980 film "The Final Countdown", does not use a 'modern' carrier, but the USS Nimitz as it was in 1979, the furthest extent of the CWDB.

As interesting as that scenario is, it simply features late 1970s tech vs Early 1940s tech, not 1941 vs 2018.

As HalfLifeExpert says, this scenario "Tora, Tora, Tora" contain units only from the CWDB. This is AAR from this scenario.

Well if Baloogan can't do it, it's probably impossible.

Ahh yes that was the one... the AAR sounds like a blast.
The wide range of the CWDB from immediately after WW2 into the late days of the Cold War does make for some interesting matchups but I suppose not quite F-22 vs Japanese Zero type....
