koopanique -> A few questions regarding Nato counters and game mechanics (2/8/2018 7:22:56 PM)

Hello,

I have several questions about TOAW4.

1) In some scenarios (like Dragoon 44), I can see the tracing of supplies (with the little circles) but not the numbers, only the circles, even when I toggle the supply visibility option. In Tutorial 43 and other scenarios, it works as intended (the numbers appear). Does anyone have any idea why?

2) Sometimes there's a small red, yellow or green circle on the left side of the units. What does it mean ?

3) What do these nato symbols stand for?

I have uploaded a pic for more clarity for questions 2) and 3).

Thank you very much!

1) What are your settings, e.g. advanced settings with fog-of-war?
2) This dot shows you how 'crammed' a hex is, e.g. stacking limit/troop & equipment density... red means... well, traffic jams and easy targets for any attack.
3) Supply unit, Assault Gun unit, REServe (Like Feldersatzbattlation) and KG (K)ampf(g)ruppe or BG for (B)attle (G)roup.

EDIT: I hope the Tutorials as such were helpful!

In Tutorial 43, I think it was the "default" settings.

In Dragoon 44, I play with Fog of War off. Could this be a reason?

Ooh ok, thanks. Does this have an effect on supply or other gameplay element except being easy target?

3) Supply unit

Ooh, but isn't there another kind of supply unit, whose symbol is the two-colored sphere ? What's the difference between those two?

I only did Kasserine 43 and Tutorial 43 as well as Arracourt, and these small scenarios were good for me as a new player because they were not daunting. It helps just "pushing" units around and see what happens to get a feel for how the game works. It helps that I had browsed the manual and watched quite a few tutorial videos on Youtube though. The game could really use some kind of interactive tutorial! But as long as there's the manual, it's alright.

I had a bug in Tutorial 43 though, I destroyed every Soviet unit (they weren't many), then I got the message "Error: no unit in selected formation" or something along those lines.

Thanks!

You did update to the latest 4.0.1.23 version though, right? If not, that might explain the bug you mentioned.

As for the supply unit icon, there's just one. The other you might mean is the wheel, which is a transport unit. Same like the one with the truck/lorry symbol. As fro the different supply location colours, please see the special thread that explains everything about the supply system.

Oh yeah, I could've sworn I had seen another spherical symbol but it must have been my imagination.

And yeah, I did upgrade to the latest version. I'll post a screenshot tomorrow so it's clearer.

Alright, thanks for your answers!

So here is a screenshot to better explain what my problem is with the supply numbers not appearing in Dragoon 44.

I do not really get why this happens

You may want to provid a save file for the latter case. From the screenshot alone we - or at least me - can’t say anything.

What to say... strange, to say the least.

koopanique -> RE: A few questions regarding Nato counters and game mechanics (2/9/2018 8:34:22 PM)

Update: I moved a unit at some point, and the numbers suddenly appeared. I don't know what happened.

Maybe it was because I didn't have a source so all the number were actually 0, thus not appearing? In any case, it seems to work now.

larryfulkerson -> RE: A few questions regarding Nato counters and game mechanics (2/9/2018 11:01:52 PM)

Are you sure you're not playing with "No Borders" turned on? Sounds like
maybe.

I think that's the solution of the discrepancy, Larry.
