John Galt -> How to Change Objective (6/3/2001 3:43:00 PM)

Is there any way to change an objective (or assign another) after the first one is achieved? I'm just beginning to use these features of the game. I assigned an obj to a tank formation, but once they arrived, the objective flags button was greyed out. Can I assign another objective to this formation?

The objective itself cannot be 'achieved'. When you want to change the objective you will need 3 orders for that particular formation, otherwise the objective icon will be greyed out. If you don't have enough orders you'll have to wait one or so turns to accumulate new. Hope this helps.

I know it is a trap for new players but you must resist the temptation to spend the orders you have already accumulated or you will never collect the three orders you need to move your objective. Remember it takes one order for each unit to move in a direction not toward your formation objective flag. It also takes an order to call down artillery bombardments. If your formation is just sitting there not accumulating orders, make sure you are not wasting them on unnecessary minor adjustments, use forward observers (preferably dedicated types) from other formations to call your artillery and make sure your headquarter units are in contact and unsuppressed (get 'em out of the line of fire). The best solution is forward planning. Know when you are going to need orders and have them ready when you do need them. (Hopefully your opponent will be accomodating enough to leave you this luxury). Another tip is to set your objectives a bit further away (longer term objectives) so you will not achieve them so quickly and have to update them so often. Hope this helps, Reg.

Paco and Reg, Both of you were of great help. That's exactly what I wanted to know. And that's why I like this board so much. Thanks. John Galt
