wodin -> RIP Jim Cobb (2/14/2018 3:20:23 AM)

Many will know his name from Wargamer and Armchair General. He was also one of the first to like A Wargamers Needful Things and his appreciation of what we do there means a lot. To get positive comments from a veteran wargame reviewer like Jim is the kind of thing that you need when your trying to get a new (yet another) review website off the ground. So thanks Jim and rest in peace the wargame community has lost one of the good guys.

A real shame to hear this sad news, I've read many of his reviews and articles over the years.

R.I.P. Jim.

AlbertoC -> RE: RIP Jim Cobb (2/14/2018 9:02:00 AM)

James has been supporting the wargames community for many years, it was a passion for him. The enthusiasm he showed through his reviews and comment, in his articles and in the Wargamer forums, always in defense of an honest and civilized discussion, were a true mark of his character and personality.

We will miss his clever points of view, his sobriety and determination. The community, the companies working in the industry and his readers will certainly miss him. We at Matrix Games, sincerely regret his passing and sadly we will no longer be able to enjoy his company.

RIP Jim. Always enjoyed his reviews and comments. I give him great credit for trying to moderate the Wargamer.com forums several years ago, a thankless task at the time.

This is really sad news. This is a huge loss for the wargaming hobby and our thoughts go out to his family. You'll be missed Jim.

Wow, I know that name Moltke71. He posted a lot here, didn't he? RIP.

Toby42 -> RE: RIP Jim Cobb (2/14/2018 5:54:10 PM)

Does anyone know Jim's age or what he passed of? I remember reading his articles for a long time!

sullafelix -> RE: RIP Jim Cobb (2/14/2018 7:12:05 PM)

There is a post on GH that says both he and his wife died from the flu.

Again from GH it is believed he was in his late 60s.

His last post here was January 6 could not find anything by typing in his name in search was looking for obituary. Does anyone know what state he lived in? That would help in the search.

I'm so saddened to hear of his loss. I always looked for his reviews as he always seemed to focus on the things that I care about in games. So his reviews were often an important consideration in my purchases. He was also a nice guy to converse with and well informed on the hobby. He will be sorely missed!

R.I.P. Jim!

Wow! [X(] That is sobering.

I'm not familiar with the gentleman but it sounds like the war gaming community has lost one of its greats. RIP. :(

67 if what I've read elsewhere is correct.

zakblood -> RE: RIP Jim Cobb (2/15/2018 2:54:33 PM)

someone from his house hold logged into his pc today as his steam nic came online and i sent them a message but as if yet no reply so maybe they don't know how to sue steam or something and also got some messages back from Wargamer staff who hadn't had any message off him for a few weeks and no way they said in getting in touch, which is odd for the times but some like there privacy more than others, so not sure if these message will get past on or not, but did try all the same

AndySfromVA -> RE: RIP Jim Cobb (2/15/2018 2:55:43 PM)

What a shame. I had some discussions with him online. A real gentleman.
