boudi -> Need an advice : How can i pass this wall ? (2/19/2018 7:02:40 PM)

Hi,

I need an advice. I'm soviet, and Leningrad is keep by Finns. But there is an impassable line behind the river. I tried 3 times, 3 times i had to support heavy casulaties, and fortifications did'nt fall.

My best northern units are allready here, and 6support artillery brigades.

I don't know what can i do. Waiting for the winter and a frozen river ?

Information : the northern road is closed :

Use lots of engineers to take the finnish level forts down. Use your best units with good leaders. Before attacking, bomb the place via air and with your artillery units. If that doesnt work, try again next turn. It will eventually crack. Waiting for the river to freeze would be a big bonus.

Why bother? That would be my question.

I would wait until the river freezes. Six guards rifle corps will then shift them.

Ok thanks you all. I realized that if i can't push to the north, he no longer can push to the south. The whole finn army is catched behind the rivers and no longer can support the german army.

Drive to Berlin !

Breakthrough artillery, rocket launchers, guards corps with engineers.

Or more? You can have some extras on reserve activation one hex behind. As the line is stationary you can set them set up the turn before so that they have the maximum MPs (and so chance to activate) during the current turn. At least I do that for Axis going the other way in 1941.

Stelteck -> RE: Need an advice : How can i pass this wall ? (2/20/2018 1:21:51 PM)

You can use HQ built up on shock armies full of guard rifle corps to be sūre they perform at maximum efficiency, because Troops with awesome stocks of amo fight better.

Also perform at least 2 attacks per turn. The first ones can be sub-optimal with reserve troops (only to consume enemy amunitions and cause fatigue&casualties).
The last one shall be your best troops with your best general.

Although it may be interesting, as previous said to bypass this strongPoint, you may have to do it to stop the victory point bleeding in some scenario such as bitter end.

I wouldn't waste the time, energy or units messing with Finland if the Victory conditions don't support such an endeavor.
