charlee22009 -> WRA Issue engaging ASW Helicopter contact (2/22/2018 3:17:20 AM)

Hi,
My task group won't stop engaging the ASW helicopter (clearly identified as hostile).
I've set the SM-1 and SM-2 WRA to not engage at all (I also tried shorter distances but it didn't matter) 'unspecified' helicopter contacts.

But they keep shooting standard missiles over and over again. I've told them to disengage, like disengage all targets but they keep shooting...

They shoot then the ASW heli goes below the radar horizon - the the missile loses illumination (it's SAHR) and it keeps missing over and over and over again.
Is this is bug? What do I do differently?

Just a guess, but the SM2 has a category separate from helicopter that is unknown air contact. When I change that to no auto fire, it stops firing. SM1 is the same way if its in range.

Set "do not use this weapon" under "weapons per salvo and they will stop firing.

Shouldn't it stop if you say no auto or defensive fire? I thought those overrode the salvo columns.

Helicopters of unknown class are considered as unknown type of air contact.
To know the type of target, you can use manual engagement "Shift F1"

Ok I guess this makes sense... although if it's already identified as an 'ASW' helicopter... isn't the type generally already presumed?

Although I see what you mean about the WRA

Actually, to know the type of target, just click on it and in its unit status section. That is where that new feature comes in handy.

I do not see where the type of target is written in the status of the unit that allows me to adjust the WRA
Do we have the same info in the status of the unit?

Like you I already got trapped, we are not the first and we will not be the last ...

WRA management gives me headache. I always struggle with accidentally overriding something by mistake. Its one of those things where too many choices can be a bad thing.
