jmarso -> Request for the future- updated formation editor (3/19/2018 4:12:41 AM)

One of the frustrating things I'm finding is trying to ungroup and regroup different vessels and place them into a formation.

You can do it with the current editor, but it's very tedious. How about a some selectable formations? You could have a 'battle line' which would be simple line astern, 'line abreast' for ASW screens and such, and the old 'circular' for carrier strike groups and so on. Maybe some boxes to check to match units with station placement, and distance. Also, maybe a button to dissolve a group on the spot rather than having to detach units one by one- unless there is one already and I somehow missed it. Thoughts?

First thought is put the request in the feature request thread. Might garner the right kind of attention there vs. the tech support thread.

That sounds more complicated. A ship's location in the formation is determined by it's capabilities, the threat and local conditions. How will presets handle these parameters? As it stands now I just designate a lead ship and array vessels around it either static or rotating with sprint/drift flags or not. This might take a minute with some larger formations (convoys) but is more appropriate for the ships available and situation than a canned formation.

I agree, moreover as the ships in the formation take damage you will want to shuffle them or, in some cases, drop them from the formation.
