TPOO -> Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/24/2018 4:15:17 PM)

This is the latest version of Directive 21 Version 4.6. Changes are covered in the briefing but should be a more challenging PO. More German divisions will arrive starting in spring 1942 that were missing from OOB. Moscow will be more challenging if not taken by first Soviet winter offensive. Fixed some supply hex issues for the Soviets. There are some updates to house rules so please read. Steve and I give thanks to all for helping making a better scenario. [:)]

Bump.

I have a problem understanding rail repair in this mod do they need to be on a train or not to fix the rail, because if on a train they have MP and if not on train they cannot move? what mode do the repair the rail?

I think the scenario designers wanted the rail repair units to stay on the rail hexes so they have to repair the rail while they are embarked. Just drive them to the end of the rail you want to repair and the next repair for that unit will happen at the end of the rail. I've heard about the news that you can stack your RR engineers to get a better chance of a repair. I've seen multiple hexes repaired when stacks are used. It takes a little bit of getting used to.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (3/16/2019 4:31:58 AM)

Just added the bit in the Red. Let me know if there is any other wording that might help.

43. Bautrupp:

These units are for railroad repair and were designed specifically for easier play-ability. They can move only by rail, and will repair damaged rail lines nearest their location. Repairs take place automatically between turns, and require no action by the player. A bautrupp unit need not be directly adjacent to broken rail lines in order to make repairs, just nearby or in the vicinity. It should be sufficient to keep these units several hexes behind the front and out of harms way. The game engine repairs rail hexes each turn automatically, and it will tend to focus on broken rail lines near any bautrupp units [embarked or not]. Therefore, the player can easily channel rail repairs to specific important areas. They will all reconstruct.

tigercub -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (3/16/2019 5:10:17 AM)

that's for that information guys it helps!

That's interesting. I knew the game engine could automatically repair rail, but I wasn't aware that it was influenced by the location of the repair units.

Cheers

Supply Point proximity also has an influence, but the map for this scenario is so large that the Supply Points tend to have a more limited effect. But you can still see this occur [or rather not 'see' it] when you get a turn or two where you think that no rail repairs occur. During those times there are repairs, but they will be somewhere not near the main action and easily go unnoticed.

I see that Rick hasn't logged on in six months. I hope all is well with him and that he is simply on hiatus.

gliz2 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (3/16/2019 11:19:45 PM)

Just out of curiosity: does this scenario take imto account railway conversion or not?

BigDuke66 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (3/22/2019 12:01:41 AM)

Some thoughts:
Notes on installation would be nice in the readme because I'm clueless where the .eqp file goes to, I see some in the scenario folder and some in the graphics override folder, where is the correct place for them?

Now, the content of the zip should be corrected.
First the briefing file names differ from the scenario file, that leads to no briefing from within the game available.
Next, graphic files miss completely, I guess they are not updated but a complete package would be better then just the updated files.
Last, what is this __MACOSX about, is that really necessary at all?

If size of a complete package is a problem, with 7zip you get it as small as 1.35MB including the graphic files.

As you point out it`s not easy to figure out where all these files should go. I would do it like this:

* put the .sce file in the "WW II - East Front scenario" folder (not the one in My
Documents), replacing the old one
* rename the .doc file to match the name of the scenario and put it in the same folder
as the .sce file. The .bmp file also goes in here.
* the .eqp file goes into the "Directive 21 1941-1945" folder in Graphics Override (replaces
the one already there)

Don`t bother with the files in the MACOSX folder. Usually that means that these files are for
Macintosh operating systems. As far as I know Toaw iv is a Windows only app so not sure why these are included.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (3/22/2019 6:32:18 AM)

We have come up with this Install file with instructions that should cover everything. No mention is made of MACOSX and I am not familiar with it, so I would go with what Edorf said.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/19/2019 5:42:35 AM)

I haven't checked out any of the other scenarios but I predict that D21
is probably the one most popular.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/19/2019 9:44:48 AM)

I didn't check them all either but it made me curious, so I checked a few. The one in the screen shot below is close, and it was posted a few months after D21 !

It's interesting to see where the interest is, for example Russian Campaign has 116 dl's, but it is a simplistic scenario and I guess has limited appeal. What really surprised me was Nach Frankreich with only 60 dl's! So many game versions of so many battles over the years, but none that portray France 1940 as accurately as this one, plus it's the most influential battle of WWII, but this scenario has little interest.

mrblonde1 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/19/2019 1:41:55 PM)

One question about D21. I installed TOAW few months ago and version 4.6 was already there along with .eqp file(placed in ProgramFiles directory with .sce file). Can I start to play?

Zovs -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/19/2019 2:53:58 PM)

I would open that up in the editor first and then save it. You'll notice that the Complexity and Units are showing 0.00 and 0/0 respectively which is incorrect.

I have had to 're-open' and 're-save' many old scenarios that have been 'converted' it seems that pre .20 and .21 is causing this issue.

mrblonde1 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/19/2019 6:01:09 PM)

Thanks!!

Edorf -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/25/2019 3:23:49 AM)

There`s also a 4.61 version of this scenario. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4531247&mpage=1&key=%26%2365533%3B
I would assume this is the latest one?

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (4/25/2019 4:25:03 AM)

Yes that is the latest ... but we are working on something ...

Ok, I see this is being taken the wrong way, so I'll clarify it. We are working on a Soviet Human vs. Axis PO version, and I didn't want to be too specific about it because it will take some time and it may not work out. But I don't want folks to continue thinking that some sort of 'update' is coming soon.

Zovs -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (5/1/2019 8:18:35 AM)

Thanks for the clarification Steve

fulcrum28 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (6/16/2019 2:08:37 PM)

I am playing D21 4.6, if I split in different colors the German armies 16th and 18th from AGN, will that affect the reinforcements schedule?

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (6/16/2019 5:51:22 PM)

Why would Unit Color have an affect on reinforcements?

fulcrum28 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (6/17/2019 1:09:06 PM)

I think the game uses the inner counter color to manage the reinforcements or withdrawal units, so i wonder how to split AGN, AGS, AGC in different colors for each army

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (6/17/2019 1:29:25 PM)

I see, thanks. IF there is a 'Withdraw Army' Event, THEN all units with the same exact color scheme as the unit named in the event will withdraw [when such an event is triggered]. You would need to run a Scenario Dump and scan it for Withdraw Army events and if any are found you would need to check the color scheme of the named unit compared to all other color schemes in the scenario. This is true of any scenario in which you want to change any colors. You can change colors without running this check, but then you are taking a chance.

Reinforcements are never influenced by Unit Colors.

tigercub -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (7/1/2019 2:01:37 PM)

can only be played single player?

Lobster -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (7/1/2019 3:29:48 PM)

From the Scenario Briefing.

Directive 21: Version 4.2

'The German Armed Forces must be prepared to crush Soviet Russia in a quick campaign.'
Adolph Hitler

Eastern Front - June 22nd 1941 to May 1945
Axis Human only, Soviet PO only (do not start in hotseat mode)
Time Scale: Half-week turns
Map Scale: 10km per hex
Unit Scale: Reg/Bde/Div levels
Turns: 405
Maximum Rounds per Battle: 3
Attrition Divider: 6
Overextended Supply rules are in effect.
TOAW IV required

Lobster -> RE: Directive 21 1941-1945 V4.6 (7/1/2019 3:31:27 PM)

This thread has a list of scenarios. They are color coded so you can see which ones can be played head to head.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4394277

Sorry, I was wrong. It does not tell which ones are one player only. An oversight I'm sure.

The scenarios in Red text are without a PO. The others have at least a PO for one side ( D21, etc. ) but most of them have a PO for both sides.
