I was relocating a maritime bomber and "stopped over" on what I guess must be the Isle of Man. Now it is stuck there. No supply, so I can't fly it out or operating it, but because 0 supply I can't destroy it. And so even though it is useless, it still counts against build limits. Shouldn't I be able to destroy at 0 supply and then rebuild, albeit not a reduced cost?

Same thing would happen if you used the Scottish Islands, e.g. Stornaway with air units. Not tried to put them back there since the early versions of the game but I am sure the same would apply.

Just a "lost" unit that you can't replace until the enemy destroys it. Actually I suppose now with attrition it will eventually go away.

I don't think it is going away. It's been there for a couple of (game) years now, same strength, still at supply 0. I can't rebase, but I can still fly recon missions with it (oddly enough).

Lesson learned.

Thanks.

Can you disband it?

No. And I assumed that it was because, according to my understanding, units must be supply 5 or above to be disbanded.

There would have to be two enemy units at 5 supply or higher adjacent to it for it to suffer attrition.

I wonder how much work it would be to add a rule that planes may not land at locations they could not (at that moment) fly out of. Would save the aggravation, especially among new players, of finding out the hard way by seeing an air unit permanently marooned.

I'm not sure that would work, as you may want to land in a location that you expected to have adequate supply in future turns.

I'd just be happy if there were an option to disband units below supply 5, but not have them available to rebuild at a reduced cost (same is if a unit below supply 5 is destroyed by enemy action).

The part that really makes no sense is that I still fly missions with it, just not land it.

On the positive side, if I lose this match I'm blaming it fully on this issue alone. The one unit that might have saved the world.

They should just make all those trappy spot inaccessible 'terra incognita' land (to use Europa Universalis terminology).

Or, perhaps, learn from your (or someone else's) mistake and don't do it again.

You can count on that!

A whole new update to fix a few scripts while my poor bomber wastes away on a deserted island :(

bfcj -> RE: stuck maritime bomber (7/10/2018 12:42:02 AM)

Just noticed this in the manual:

"Note: empty islands do not contain a source of
supply and cannot serve as a base, so units should
not land in these islands as they will become
stranded there."

I take back everything I said.
