A few weeks ago we were talking about the S-400 system. As you recall, the launcher has the capability of firing two different missiles from the same tube. One is the SA-21a (135 nm range), and the other is the SA-21b (215 nm range). The game is set up so that you can swap out as many as you want up to the capacity of 12. The platform works fine in the game.

Then, I (along with kevinkin) started playing around with the S-350. It can actually load THREE different types of missiles into its tubes. The short one does not exist in the game, but the other two (9M96E and 9M96E2) do. The first has a range of 25 nm and the second has a range of 65 miles. There is a problem, however. Only the second one is listed in the game. Additionally, if you look closely at the weapons, it appears to me that you are unable to swap out the any of the 9M96E2 versions for the other (shorter) 9M96E version.

Can someone take five minutes and see if you can find a way to do it? It should only take five minutes (at most) of your time. I've tried numerous ways, but have not been able to do it.

It's error in the DB. S-400 can't equip 12 of those on those in 1 TEL. The launcher has 4 big containers for missiles. Each of those 4 big ones can be replaced for another one that packs 4 9M96 missiles with the dimensions of 1 container for the bigger missiles. So it can go from 4 to 16 based on how many tubes are replaced - from 1 to 4.

So that DB entry with the 12 missiles is for the S-350 and you should use it there if you need to equip the shorter range missiles.

The 3rd missile that doesn't exist in the DB can also be quad packed as it's much smaller:

But that's all hypothetical and marketing stuff. The S-400 doesn't use 9M96 missiles and it's unclear when/if it will start using them and the S-350 doesn't exist yet to draw data from deployed systems. The russian army lost patience over it's slow and problematic development so started to buy Buk-M3s instead that also has 12 missiles with similar range. Yes not as good, but it actually exists, hits targets during the tests and can be ordered:

(You might need to update your database to the most recent version as your numbers don't seem to match mine. The image of your database doesn't even list the SA-25. I've found that if the database isn't up-to-date, then that can happen. If that isn't the case, then it's my bad. I apologize.)

In any case, I only mentioned the S-400 because it has two different types of missiles listed in the game in the same launcher.

I may have written something in a confusing manner. I do apologize if that is the case. I am only interested in the S-350. It has 12 tubes. In the game, all of them are the long-range version of the missile. I would like to load the medium range version into a few of those tubes. Do you know how to do that, or are you telling me that the S-350 system only uses one version of the missile? I know that this was a wiki link, but Global Security contains the same data, but it wasn't as concisely written.

If you take a look at the image that I provided you will see that there are 12 tubes which are all similar in size. The four in the middle appear to be a different color. Perhaps those represent a different missile than the long range version. I don't know.

Any help would sincerely be appreciated.

I am not here to argue with you because I honestly don't know if it is true or not, but here is a link that indicates that the S-350 has already been deployed to Syria. There are numerous articles about it.

This is what got me to start thinking about the S-350 in the first place.

As of right now at least you can't really fill the tubes like you fill VLS system on a ship. There are 4 TELs in the battery and you can work around by filling for example half the TELs with the shorter range missiles and the other half with the longer range ones. As battery they will have 24/24 which would be the same if you fill 6/6 in each individual TEL.

The DB is Build 474. Also S-400 in the same DB build can't really take 9M96s either without editing where the realistic result (2 big tubes + 2 with quad packed 9M96s) looks like this (10 with limit 4):

This article that says S-350 was in Syria is one of many hoax articles in thee lower tier medias. The more serious ones research rumors before posting them. There was S-300V4 deployed. There aren't any S-350s in the russian army in order to deploy some, the production didn't start yet. It was supposed to start in 2013, but the missiles fail at trials many years already, read about the Poliment-Redut Naval Air Defense System, it's ship based version of the S-350 with the same missiles and how they still can't get it to work. Almaz-Antey head was even fired over the fails (and the Navy is very angry as they can't commission newly build ships for years now, because the air defense can't pass trials). Other then not having any of those S-350s in the russian armed forces - Rosoboronexport isn't listing such system in it's portfolio for export and it's not selling 9M96 missiles for the S-400 systems - you can guess why I hope:

I understand what you are saying about the "validity of use" of the S-350. I am not disputing that. It could be/likely was, just propaganda.

Thanks also for your examples. They helped me do exactly (well almost) what I was trying to accomplish.
