Started a new multiplayer game under 1.11.03 against Afrikakorpssoldat.Received and returned turn one fine, have received turn 2 but the turn refuses to load. Have tried 2 different PC's with no luck.

I note from another post that afrikakorpssoldat is having problems with another game. Is it possible to check the server to determine the source of the file corruption causing the failure of the files to load.

We're all on 1.11.03, I believe. My opponent in another game said he opened my file and it said I was running under 1.11.01. So I'm wondering if 1.11.03 is reporting its version incorrectly in save game files, so the game can then not be opened once returned due to the system perceiving a version mismatch.

Had a similar crash in another game, likewise in 1.11.03. So there is clearly something with that version and the multiplayer server.

I hope they can get those save game files and send them to us so we can run the game via PBEM.

I put a ticket in to Slitherine about this. I encountered this problem in both of the multiplayer games I am playing once I went over to 1.11.03. The save game file arrives from my opponent. I can open the file fine, I play for a while, save the game, and try to open it again, whereupon it gives me a "runtime error" and closes the game (crash to desktop). The Slitherine support person reset the game a couple of times for one opponent (Sparkley), who re-did his turn and sent it to me, same problem. I did a clear reinstall of the game. And then I had the same problem in a second game (with Blubel2). The Slitherine person said he had sent the question to the developers, and when I followed up a couple of days ago, said he had received no response. So in hopes that the devs read this forum, I am asking the question here:

can I get the save game file off the multiplayer server? I don't have any problem with multiplayer.

Failing that, Blubel, would you be willing to start over as a pbem game?

I would really like to know if the save games can be taken off the multiplayer server and sent to me and my opponent as .psv files so we could at least continue the game through PBEM until the powers that be manage to fix the multiplayer server.

I sent a support ticket to Matrix. The response was simply an offer to rollback to the previous turn - no indication that they were looking at the cause of the problem.

I got the turn rolled back a couple of times to no avail. The Slitherine people said they'd escalated it to the devs at Matrix. NO response from them so far.

Kind of sucky that they won't even respond. I'd even settle for a "sorry, there isn't anything we can do about this, your earlier games are unplayable."

I guess if I'd known it was going to be an issue, I'd have kept a 1.11.01 installation so I could continue the games.

There was a significant effort made to solve this (not by me, I was only an observer), but I think it didn't succeed.

Sorry for the delay, and sorry for your problem with the MP system. We've had problems trying to get to the bottom of your problem. Our programmer was on vacation and then came back sick, so there was a delay in looking at this. Once he was able to look at it, there was some discussion with Matrix trying to figure out how to duplicate the issue. We still haven't been able to duplicate the issue, and there is the potential that it could be one of three things 1) a code issue in the game code and how it interacts with the MP system 2) an MP system issue in the Matrix MP code 3) a machine specific issue. It could be any combination of these. I'm going to check and see if there's anything on the Matrix end that's being checked, and will see if they can do anything more to help our programmer duplicate the issue with your game file. Unfortunately, there may be no immediate answer for this. I'll update if we make any progress, or conclude we need more info.

I should say that this has reproduced itself on two different machines, both running Win10 and emulating Win8.1.

Likewise, the problem occured on 2 different laptops both using windows 10, 32 and 64bit versions.

There was indeed no check made whether you have the proper patch installed to be able to play the game. By loading a game saved under newer patch in an old version of WitE may have lead to all kinds of save game corruption and in turn to crashes, that I even't don't want to imagine.
