Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/23/2018 4:09:41 PM)

I can accept the challenges, but then I already have two opponents and could win twice, or I could just play here and you'll come either way

Please give a precise statement

Hello Larry:
I've created two challenges of "Anonymous Heroics (PBEM)" and the password is 12345.
I will wait for Ammann but anyone wants to play the game with me can take them. (Must take them both!)
Regards, Nikolai.

Okay, I'll take 'em.

Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/23/2018 5:41:46 PM)

For me it would not have been a problem ..... I could do that .... and for Nikolai it is still better to play against Elmar ...

Larry ... how many games have you been running?

Ian and I are playing Campaign for South Vietnam and FITE, two games.
Jorge and I are playing Pacific At War and the tournament matches.
NikolaiEzhov and I are playing the tournament matches, soon to start.
Rob and I were playing Pacific At War both sides, but those games got cancelled for lack of time to play on Rob's part.
In my spare time I'm playing D21 against the computer.
Brian and I are working on a scenario part time.
I was doing a workshop on PAW but that got sidelined for lack of time to work on it.
There was one other compeditor I was playing the tournament matches with and I can't remember his name right now.
That's all I can remember right now. I've got to start writing stuff down.

Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/23/2018 6:11:45 PM)

It was meant that if it is too much for you I could play against Nikolai

That sounds great. Yea, give that a whirl. Thanks.

Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/23/2018 6:31:19 PM)

OK Nikolai, I will start tomorrow morning.
Alright Larry .... we'll announce the end ........ Nikolai are you ready?

NikolaiEzhov -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 2:48:37 AM)

Hmm, seems that Larry has already taken my challenges, man. I don't know but maybe you have to find another guy.

Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 3:42:33 AM)

That's no problem .... I already have an opponent for the tournament.
I just wanted to take some work off Larry.

Cfant -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 6:55:56 AM)

Hi Larry,

no big thing, just to have it consistent: Shall we take the score of the beginning of turn 10 or of turn 11?

wzfcns -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 10:13:35 AM)

Well looks like the most effective way to join the tournament is just create challenge on PBEM++ and wait for opponent
By the way,I've created two challenges of "Anonymous Heroics (PBEM)" and the password is 12345. And anyone wants to play the game with me can take them. (take them both)

Cfant -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 10:44:10 AM)

Quite a strange tournament. So you can play opponents, who don't play in the tournament, to come into the next round? Strange things are starting to happen... [:'(]

turn 11.

Ammann -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 11:01:34 AM)

A suggestion for the next tournament .....

First, wait until a sufficient number of players is ready to participate, then a scenario is set that all play, all of course, really the same.
After that, the person responsible could possibly trump who is playing against whom and announce in the thread.

Ping Ding English [sm=00000734.gif]

Cfant -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/24/2018 1:07:18 PM)

Was my suggestion. Would prefer that either. However, not a big issue. It's a fun tournament. [:)]

NikolaiEzhov -> RE: First TOAW4 Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/25/2018 6:18:28 AM)

Hello Larry:
I've experienced two cases of PBEM server down and it seems that my turn was not uploaded successfully.
I will try it later.

Regards, N.E.

Waltz -> RE: Official Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/25/2018 12:34:05 PM)

Count me in if I ain't too late

Ammann -> RE: Official Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/25/2018 12:53:30 PM)

wzfcns is still looking for an opponent and has also created two challenges.

Hey Waltz, welcome to the tournament. It seems that wzfcns is available for gaming...why
don't the two of you pair up and get a game started.

NikolaiEzhov -> RE: Official Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/29/2018 3:00:03 AM)

Hi Larry:
Should our game ends at Turn 10 or we wait the game ends naturally?

Hi Larry:

The procedure is to get the net victory points at the beginning of turn 11.
That way 10 full turns will have been played. Post your scores here on
this thread please.

Cfant -> RE: Official Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/30/2018 6:52:00 AM)

First match against Mike (me: Brits, him: Germans). Re-match already started.

I'm playing as the Red player and I've got -5 points from this one. Nicky onw.

NikolaiEzhov -> RE: Official Tournament ( Join up thread ) (7/31/2018 2:08:56 AM)

Hello Larry:
I'm not sure if you are comparing the right value.
The "Net victory point award" is the value from VP awards and penalties of both sides, i.e. in this scenario, the VP penalty from calling reinforcements.
Instead, the result of the games shall be determined by Victory level, which
quote:

"is determined by
summing the Friendly Held Objectives value,
minus the Enemy Held Objectives value, plus
the Enemy Loss Penalty, minus the Friendly
Loss Penalty, plus the Net Victory Point
Award."
-- Game manual, pp.102

Nevertheless, my net victory point award is -2.
Seems that I've won this.

Regards, N.E.

Hi Larry, Cfant and I have finished our mirror tournament games and he beat me soundly both times. you know, i played Elmer for 17 years and I thought I might be an ok player but Cfant definitely smacked me around. Embarrassingly I can't figure out how to attach a screenshot of the score. I'll send it to Cfant and he can post it, seems he knows how.

Thanks for the info. I got beat in both of my matches too. And I thought I was an ok player too. It seems that I like to post a lot and that's about it.
