danfrodo -> best east front vs PO? (7/24/2018 11:10:33 PM)

Hey folks, I was looking to tackle the eastern front which I haven't done since Gary Grigsby game from 1990s. Any opinions on best east front scenario vs PO? I want to play as germans first then as soviets another time.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Dan

Dan,

I still enjoy the Road to Moscow Series I-VIII. Bite-sized (about twenty to sixty one-day turns, that cover Army Group Center in Barbarrosa from 22 Jun 1941 to end of Feb 1942.

Note I have made several minor modifications to most of them; check with Larry Fulkerson's Recent Scenario Submissions for TOAW IV thread for the latest of I and II, and I will be posting others for the next patch ( I am working on VIII. What if? based on Stolfi's recent book.)

FULL DISCLOSURE: I am the designer of these scenarios and a little bias.

Let me know what you think.

The Road to Moscow series is fun and I like it but if you're thinking about
playing the entire campaign without a break in the wargamming you need something
like FITE where the Soviets are played by the PO. D21 does that. Here's the

B41_lgf_5.6 is good, at a corp/division level. I did a brief AAR on it recently.

Great input, thanks everyone. I think I'll start w the bite-size Road To Moscow series and then one of the big ones mentioned.

I started the what if scenario of the Road to Moscow series. Looks really good. I have a question. How can I find out the divisions that are subordinated to a Corps HQ?

Greetings Okayrun,
Thanks for your interest in TOAW IV and What If?

In the Order of Battle Screen, divisional units are listed by Armies then Panzer Groups. (But not highlighted on the map.)

Formations (Panzer division regiments) can be brought up on the map with the F key.

I have included the rationale for assumptions made in designing the scenario. Note that there is a web link to Stolfi's book (interestingly that is a Russian link but in English.)

Let me know how you do.

cheers,
RAK
