AngelHeart -> Problem to land (7/28/2018 9:14:46 AM)

Hail.

I don't understand why the flight Anderson #3 don't land on the Nimitz CVN.
The scenario has been posted.

Hi angelheart

Anderson #3 didn´t land because The Nimitz A/C facilities were full.
There was already 142 Hornets on the carrier which is an enormous amount.

Hope this makes sense.

As a reference you can use this site (or several others like it): http://www.gonavy.jp/AIRLANTf.html

VFA Squadrons have 12 AC each = 48
VQA Squadron has about 5 = 5
VAW Squadron about 4 = 4
The two helo sqns probably 12 on the carrier and another 6 on the escorts
VRC det - 2 but usualy on shore or in transit.

Total ~ 65-70 AC

In the Cold War days that was ramped up to ~72-74

In the DB entry you can see that the Hanger holds 50 AC and you can park another 60 on deck
The catapult, arresting Gear and Elevators are for AC handling not storage.

Most CV AC are medium size so you can squeeze a few more in but it really degrades sortie rates and cycling of AC.

Best to stick to the norms as the ships were designed or the result will be AC unable to land, stuck on elevators, long time to take off etc
