AlexGGGG -> (WAD) CAP doctrine help needed (8/3/2018 11:32:52 AM)

I don't know if it is a bug or if I'm missing something obvious.

Attached is the save file.

Take a look at CAP engaging inbound vampires.
I have CAP mission doctrine set to "Fire 1 missile per Guided Weapon target, from 1 aircraft".
Still, aircraft are firing three-AAM salvos (sometimes up to six), thus expending much more AAMs than I want for this intercept.

Is this a bug, or is this some doctrine setting I have configured wrong?

I want CAP aircraft to fire single AAM per inbound, wait for the AAM to hit (or miss), and then fire another single AAM if the inbound is still alive.

I'm running Command v 1.14 build 998.9

Setting the self-defense WRA for a particular weapon to an active distance causes a unit/group (as the case may be) to engage a target with that weapon at that distance even if that target is being engaged by a different weapon. In this case, groups with the AA-9 and AA-10C will fire those weapons at a target at 15 miles and groups with AA-10A will fire that weapon at a target at 10 miles.

Setting the weapons to not be used in self-defense will prevent "over-engaging". In one of my tests, once all three AAMs already in the air missed the targeted missile, the closest plane engaged with single AA-10A shots until it went down, while both airborne groups continued to track that missile. In others where one of those three downed the missile, the two groups went after other inbounds with single missile shots.

Thanks a lot. I guess I did not expect shots against TLAM to count as self-defense, because TLAM is not a treat for a fighter. But, anyhoo, problem solved, case closed, thank you.
