The British do not produce anything when you select Assaultgun II the city says it produces but nothing appears in Headquarters.

This may be a dumb suggestion. When a player does a research, say heavy tanks, could a window be put in saying what type the heavy tanks are so when producing you can pick the right ones. Also, like fighter III or IV, say what the fighters are.

It is not a dumb suggestion, just not one that is possible, unless a major rework of the research tree is done. As it is right now, the research tree is common for all major nations. That is they can research the same researches. The results of these researches depend on what nation they are. The only place that you can write what you will get is in the research description. So they are tied to the researches, not what you get. If however you made a seperate research tree for all major countries, then this could be made so that the research description was accurate, and say exactly what you got. Of course this would make tech-bleeding (the function that makes research cheaper as other nations research it) very hard to program...

I don't think that doing a tech tree for each nation is practical however. Maybe if Vic made it so that you had an Exec (a function) that would allow for editing the research description, it could be done... but it would require a lot of manual work, inputting the more than 800 things you can get...

Fixed this. We hope to have a new version out by early January.

ernieschwitz -> GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/30/2018 1:51:25 PM)

GD 1938 v3 has been updated to version 101.

In this version a number of reported bugfixes have been made. I somehow forgot to make a list of them, but all of them have been tested, except the reported problem of Victory Conditions kicking in too soon. I hope this is fixed, but it is hard to set up the conditions that would allow for the bug(s), that might be in there.

Also New types of equipment are available.

The 88 AT gun has been added for Germany. Submarines & destroyers are now customized, and a fleet tanker has been made available too, with the intent of making the time ships with lower amounts of supplies, can stay at sea.

On behalf of the Design Team
Claus / Ernieschwitz

AstroBlues -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/30/2018 7:43:45 PM)

Where can we get the update? Thank you for the update.

It is in the scenario bank, where it has replaced the original that was there. :)

ernieschwitz -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/30/2018 8:01:55 PM)

The link to the scenario (in the scenario bank) is here:

AstroBlues -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/31/2018 9:53:02 PM)

Will it affect an ongoing game. Would I have to just install this patch and it will override the current game? Also you mention 88's for the German AT guns. What level would that be?

Twotribes -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/31/2018 10:03:23 PM)

Old games are not changed by scenario changes in new loads. The 88 appears right away for the Germans.

First act of the new year: (it just turned 2019 in Denmark).

It will not have any effect on an ongoing game, except maybe for a few updated graphics. So no need to sweat about that. Future games should be started with this version however. It won't override the current version, so if you feel like it, you can play on an older (more bugfilled) version.

The 88 guns are available from the start of the game. So no worries there :)

EDIT: Thanks to Twotribes for his slightly speedier answer than mine. Always nice to have someone being enthusiastic about the scenario :)

ArmouredLion -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (12/31/2018 11:29:19 PM)

Happy New Year all... and thanks to both creators for the game... still my fav ww2 game...

Twotribes -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/1/2019 4:15:45 AM)

Flak 36 88mm is not on the list for assignment to premade units.

ernieschwitz -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/1/2019 4:48:52 AM)

Yay, the first bug report of the year. :)

I'll get on it.

LJBurstyn -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/1/2019 2:21:34 PM)

Boy, those 88's are expensive. Almost the entire production for a city (3000 Production Points).

I'm assuming you mean, it's not set in the TO&E as selectable, right?

Ya

ernieschwitz -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/1/2019 7:49:46 PM)

Did a check for similar errors (with the TO&E), found a few, and fixed those too (Subs and Destroyers). Should be in the next update :)

Twotribes -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/1/2019 9:14:55 PM)

Ya I wouldn't have found those I don't use TO&E on ships

LJBurstyn -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/2/2019 4:01:28 PM)

Good update.
Found something interesting while I was searching thru the scenario edit.
There are cards that we don't get as players are these there for future expansions or are they no longer of use.
If they are no longer of use why not eliminate them and save some memory (?).
I would not mind getting some of those cards...be interesting not only for random coups but to instigate some myself.

Snooping with the editor eh? :) When doing that, it probably is important to get the names of stuff right though (researches are not cards). ... ;)

In all seriousness though, they are part of an ancient build. All the way back to GD1938v1. So, why not remove them? Because removing them has consequences. The researches are 80 to 99, and if they were deleted, everything that refers to them had to be redone. That is researches pointing to items (pieces of equipment), would change. Possibly the researches each nation has, would be needed to redone, and other stuff that doesn't autoadjust by deleting them. Finally the code itself (the event coding), would need to be rechecked for every instance of it refering to researches. And the end result: a little neater looking version, saving a very small fraction of memory. Not worth the effort in short.

What has been done is that each of these researches have been used to make new and interesting Strategic Researches. So some of the original random coups researches have already been used. As for instigating coups, something might be on the horizon. However it was thought that the way it was done in GD1938v2 was not optimal, hence it was removed from GD1938v3.

Hope this answers some things.

Thanks, I hadn't. Now I have :)

AstroBlues -> RE: GD 1938 v3 updated (v101) (1/2/2019 6:12:34 PM)

Will the next update be out pretty quickly or should we just use the one out now. I imagine it would not make a difference.
