I would be interested in the size and specs of your choice in laptop. Not that its needed for AE, but as you say its not the only thing I'll be running. So what I did for my last purchase was to go all out and get a price. As said didn't wish to spend $5K on what for me is essentially a toy, although I did use it for work a bit. Once there I looked at what I could save by taking a step 'downward', so to speak. For instance I went from a 512GB SSD to a 256GB. Large enough for me and back then the savings were substantial. I think I down graded the video card one step as well, as I'm not into the first person shooters where something like that might matter. Probably did some other reductions as well, but don't recall what. At any rate when I got the price down to about $3500 I brought the thing. That's pretty much always been my modus operandi when it comes to computers, even back in the day when I built my own. Always found 'chasing technology' as too expensive. One under the 'latest and greatest' mostly worked great for me. Now that doesn't mean that it was that way in all instances. When I brought my Pentium III I did wait a bit for the new 133 MHz front side bus speed as I felt it would stretch the machines' longevity. So as others have said here... it depends. But mostly what I said above. Cheers.[sm=00000436.gif]
