He is trying to do too little, too often, too fast.

Lowpe -> RE: Lowpe (Japan) vs Wargamr (Allies) (2/26/2019 1:31:23 PM)

Power problems due to very high winds caused a bit of a delay...just sent the turn back to Allies, and I expect major fireworks on the next turn, as Wargamr never backs down.

Allied computer snafus, slowed turns down...recap...invasion Ceylon all of a sudden is countered by somewhat strong IJN presence, will the Allies push on or retreat?

But, first action in the great cold northern waters...

Major sweeps over Colombo by the British meets stiff low layered resistance flying from a damaged runway.

RangerJoe -> RE: Lowpe (Japan) vs Wargamr (Allies) (2/28/2019 2:12:44 PM)

Something appears to be wrong. The Allies are taking relatively heavy losses whereas I see moderate Japanese air losses and no Japanese naval losses. At least for the size of the forces involved.

But I play Allied and the computer gives up on 1 January 1943. I am now just starting my first serious game on the Japanese side.

You do realize both players are humans? [:D]

Both are well known and widely respected. This is a good example of how the Allies can stick their hands in the tar baby too early and find it tough to extricate easily.

Or in other words ... nothing is wrong.

RangerJoe -> RE: Lowpe (Japan) vs Wargamr (Allies) (2/28/2019 6:24:43 PM)

Yes, it looks like someone caught a tiger by the tail and now needs help to let go . . .

Yes, I know that these are human opponents but some people do claim that I have a smart posterior. [8|]

I have learned a lot from Lowpe and others just by seeing and reading the AARS. Sometimes I learn from them by reading their opponents AARs.

One of these days I might try a PBEM but I want to get relocated and have a better internet service than a cell phone. I also need to either repair this computer or get a new one. Dell notebooks don't work very well with no battery and with a dead battery, they just don't work.

Lowpe -> RE: Lowpe (Japan) vs Wargamr (Allies) (3/1/2019 4:15:15 PM)

1-2 days away from the first attack on Chungking. I think I have laid the groundwork here very well. I am hoping to take the city after 7 attacks depending upon what the forts are. I plan on taking the two bases west of Changsha over the next three days.

Ceylon is getting reinforcements, I had stripped it of defenses pretty much, but now need to keep it to attempt auto victory.

Hoping to nail a few more allied destroyers in the frigid north this next turn.

Agreed. EXP matters a lot and at this point IJ forces have a lot more than allies. Lowpe has likely concentrated his high EXP forces here and is reaping the benefits of that.

Nov 18, 1942

Bombardment goes in and destroys 10 planes on the ground...

The KB sorties a small splinter at 2 Destroyers and nets only a 250kb bomb hit on each, I have detached a small SAG to pursue the destroyers.

Lowpe -> RE: Lowpe (Japan) vs Wargamr (Allies) (3/7/2019 4:59:19 PM)

First attack at Chungking...I wanted to see if I have to divert the tank divisions here or not. Still outside of the city are two more tank regiments and several artillery units.

The attack looks good, but unfortunately we didn't knock down forts which might mean the tank divisions have to come back for this fight.

Nice attack! You killed 6 units, which admittedly is just a drop in the bucket. They're already short on supply. Keep pounding with artillery and bombers between assaults.

Edit: Bring in those tank divisions along with as much infantry as you can scrape up. Their adjusted AV is only half their raw AV. That's great!

Only really worried about dropping forts at this point. I have taken a long time preparing the battlefield to minimize Japanese losses. Japanese troops arrived from the Sian front a long time ago.

A look at the R&R base...might move out some of the HQs that are in Chungking to make room for more AV.

Fatigue and Disruption is high, might be able to attack in 5-7 days.

More divisions = more combat engineers = fort reduction
