This is an incredibly moving tale of the creation and evolution of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier after the First World War. I served with an MP who was nominated to be one of the first females to join the Old Guard for this duty. The remains of the Unknown Soldier from the War in Vietnam were eventually identified. The family of that hero had the casket exhumed from the monument and properly transported to a family grave. Undoubtedly, science has eliminated the possibility of any further Unknowns. SGM McIlvenna's suggestion that we all add a moment of silence for the Unknown Soldiers to our routine on Veteran's Day deserves national attention. I post this now, so that those inclined can start a movement to accomplish exactly that. 2021 will mark the centennial of the Tomb.
