jedao -> Air movement - Panel view question (8/21/2018 6:11:01 PM)

Hello,

I'm trying to get into this game. So far it's going okay but one thing is driving me crazy.

Depending on whether I go into F7/F10 move mode I get different views in the side panel (see other panel in next post). But sometimes the panel in the Air Transfer is the same as in the Naval Patrol mode. I just don't know how to switch between these modes, it seems to me it is decided randomly.

other view

I think I found the reason: I don't remember it MYSELF, but I saw it over and over in Pewpewchewchew's tutorial videos: He is playing version 1.0.0.08, so I guess the sidebar for the air relocation has changed since then?

F7 is naval air directive creation mode (same as F2-F6). F10 is air transfer mode. I.e. these are very different modes.

You are right - layout for the air transfer mode (F10) has been changed since release.

Thank you for confirming, this was driving me crazy :)

While I (maybe?) have your attention, a quick question I could not find anywhere in the manual regarding ADs:

I noticed that sometimes the area rectangle of a AD is blinking. It seems in some cases it is because the mission parameters are mismatching the planes (day/night, altitude) - that is shown in the tooltip.

But sometimes there are no warnings in the tooltip but the box is still flashing. Is that because the area is too big for coverage?

The only area dependent air directive (AD) is air superiority (AS). If there is no "no fly" info is shown, you should check if there is any air groups/aircraft available for the particular AD.

Hm then I have no idea what would cause the flashing AD borders.

I know it happened when I set a night only AG to a day mission - this was also displayed in the popup. The flashing disappeared when I fixed it.

But another Superiority mission flashed when there was nothing obvious wrong with the mission. I saw no "No fly" anywhere - where would that be? But the flashing stopped once I made the area smaller. Maybe that is just a display bug then?

When you set AS area too big it makes air groups out of range and therefore it is "flashing".

Oh, thanks, that could likely be the reason. I will check next time I encounter a flashing AD.

I wish such warnings would be displayed in the pop-up for the AD, same as wrong altitude or d/n planes.
