okay cool, i like the idea of working on one strip at a time

i havent got the syw game so i dont know the full OOBs for each army and battle that are being used

How things can work, is that the research can be done by the graphics coordinator - in other words source the uniform images (like from Kronoskaf ... I probably spelled that wrong, but it was a big help ... and I wish they had a similar site for all the different periods. :) ... get a set of them - and send them over to an artist to work off of.

In this period, and especially with a smaller scale, there can be far fewer differentiating features between a lot of units, so one might not need to do every single different unit.

-I also prefer smaller scale in gaming miniatures, to the point where I would like it much closer to the scale of the battle being played - mind you, if one goes by that standard, then even those in the Peninsular title are way too big (a 500 men unit being represented by 24 figures) -just to put things in to perspective. In my case, the 'larger scale' wasn't going to be because of personal preference, but rather more to showcase what I had gotten back, at that time.

The fact of the matter, though, is that different artists have different takes on scale, and their own personal style; as a graphics coordinator -at least in my view, is to allow the artist the freedom to do their thing in their own way, within reason (that being sometimes the way a game performs and what needs to be shown will sometimes take priority.

Anyway, I am trying to get together a map based upon files from a few titles, and some of the files I was originally provided by Joe (amoral).

I don't like the larger-scale miniatures look; I prefer the smaller (and more of them) soldiers look. The examples in the previous post look great!

Yes.

Hexagon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/27/2018 5:32:23 PM)

The 3D image i post is the stock graphics from "Bonaparte´s Peninsular war" title, since Tiller leave HPS all the napoleonic titles released new in JTS have this kind of art for units in 3D, i dont know if older titles receive them but before appear in Tiller games as stock scens there was a serie of mods with that kind of units in 3D.

Berto, i know there was a similar mod for ACW titles with small soldiers, dont ask me whats the mod name or where find it, i dont have idea because my HD crash and i am crazy to try find the missing files [sm=00000023.gif]

But if you want offer sensation of mass nothing like tiny soldiers [:)]

eastwindrain -> RE: New from Tiller (8/27/2018 8:55:19 PM)

+1
Prefer the massed battalion's.

Was it not Erjax mod for the nappy games and Rolf's mod for ACW games.

eastwindrain provided the answer: "Rolf's mod for ACW games".

Do a Google or Bing search for: rolf hall graphics

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/28/2018 12:30:43 AM)

those ACW graphics are cool - they are not as small as the Leipzig ones but still have mass to them - i will take that into consideration.
The good news is that I have had some more discussion with the JTS folks, SDC included of course and will make the 3d art for units - it might take a while as i am doing it just in my own time which i dont have as much of nowadays

Hexagon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/28/2018 10:49:38 AM)

Thank you Berto for the reply, i was crazy searching the mods file i had for Tiller games... at least thanks to God i made a backup of the HPS folder if not i miss all the modded games... maybe i cant have the mods but i have the moded games [8|]

Well, tiny soldiers could be bigger, the models used in napoleonic serie and the ACW mod... i imagine is possible increase their size but is true that maybe is faster create the 3D soldiers for SYW (and with a little luck for future M&P titles) using napoleonic art as base.

An interesting thing offered by ACW mod is that cavalry units when are dismounted have a different 3D image, this is something that is posible do to in SYW in dragoon units (and i have in mind another army that started XVIII century with his regular army made only by dragoon type units) and when you are in 3D see easier where is the infantry and where is are the dragoons

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/29/2018 1:05:03 AM)

I hAVE taken some time just to further make possible units and so just want to see whether you like this scale - its a little bigger than Leipzig but not so big as Waterloo

Excellent job [&o]

You can try contact with somebody related with M&P project and show your work to them, SYW was released with no 3D because work done was small and not enough to release it, if you can do a 3D art like this for title and future titles in serie...

You have something i never had... art abilities keep them moving [sm=happy0065.gif]

PD: and i have in mind other serie that could benefic from your great art work... Early American Wars that is suposed is going to be reworked in next years.

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/29/2018 8:15:56 AM)

what is M%P project, - Hexagon do you also work with HPS/JTS? -
Early American Wars i will happily do in future, and Great Northern War and perhaps if JTS ever does the 1807 period of campaigning i would sign on to do that in a heartbeat!
but i best not get ahead of myself - i need to just get the units for SYW done first which will be no small task as it involves quite a number of nations!

Hexagon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/29/2018 9:17:30 AM)

I am not in JTS but you can find here guys that work in titles, for example in Black Powder & Cold steel section, go to the musket and pike section

The blitz

Black powder & cold steel section
http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/forumdisplay.php?fid=166

The main SYW thread, thauth116 looks like worked in SYW and is into a new title in the serie
http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=71836&page=3

1807... do you refer to something like this??? Campaign Eylay Friedland (CEF) [8|]
http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=71798

But the title is very advanced, i think release is early 2019, was for late 2018 but...

For EAW they sayd some months ago they are going to work in update the serie but i dont know who is now in this project, every serie has various teams and different workers.

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/29/2018 9:27:39 AM)

Ah cool so Friedland is already being created, well that is great in itself!

Agathosdaimon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/29/2018 11:44:59 PM)

okay i have learnt that perhaps the scale i was doing for the massed unit was too big - it seems the Civil War titles use a different and incompatible format regarding its sizes and hexes, - i will have to perhaps instead go off the unit sizes as seen in campaign marengo, which is still good i think for sizing

Hexagon -> RE: New from Tiller (8/31/2018 7:30:47 AM)

Looks like the length of the line is to big and the commanders-drums made to deep the image for the hex size.

As suggestion for skirmishers try use more than 1 soldier, maybe a disperse formation of 3 soldiers, and dragoon units could be like the ACW cavalry, a single line of more disperse soldiers.

If you need a file say it.

OFF-TOPIC: the first mod with tiny soliders for napoleonic serie i remember was one from Lee Scott for Waterloo, i remember had it before Erzax mods but was Erzax the true rise of tiny soldiers when apply his mod for all napoleonic titles until they appear as stock art in 1814 the first JTS napoleonic title after leave HPS.
