As one who has supported many EA games, Iam not the only one who thinks the story is getting old...

I quit buying Early Access games. Too many of them NEVER got finished. [:@]

Kuokkanen -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 4:42:11 PM)

Following quotes are from my memory about Starshatter series:

I don't think this game will ever be finished

My wife says the same

Starshatter 3.7.6 was like what you'd expect of an early access game before that term was invented. I was greatly intrigued of it. And I got accepted to closed beta of Starshatter 3.8.something. I tested it out, I made bug reports, and bugs I had reported were corrected. Yay! And then I bought the game (Starshatter The Ultimate Space Combat) from Matrix Games. Taking part to brainstorming, beta test, mods & related discussions... It was an interesting experience. But I don't want to do that with several games at the same time. Simply put: don't buy into too many early access titles and pay attention what others have said about given game. If newest Battlefield sucks, then look up other games. If you don't care about loot boxes and micro transactions, look up games which don't have them (great majority of games are without them). If game is said to be incomplete without DLC, wait until DLC gets done and buy everything at the same time. And stop complaining dammit! [:@]

Red2112 -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 5:27:48 PM)

As people have the right to choose, they also have the right to complain!

Why? Well because it used to be that you would get PAID to test games, you would get PAID to promote games, and games for the most part were finished (bugs included)! Or you were simply given a FREE copy to test it out! This whole trend of paying to test games, paying to kill yourself with transgenics, paying so some can spill money out of there...a** for something thats not even half worht it is getting out of hand! So yeah letīs exploit and support that, right! Alot of people are put off because of this trend which in turn some real honest devs are hurt losing sales! Your karma backfired, and now dont complain!

What happen to the honest and reliable market of which everyone could afford products that would last a lifetime? Oh no, thats not a profit...give me a break!

So yeah tell me what to do and/or how I should think!

Kuokkanen -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 6:32:55 PM)

I hear you, Red. It's just that complaining is also getting out of hand. To me it seems there is like 1% of games that get so much complaining that it exceeds everything else about other games. Popularity I tell you. Or: how many games are NOT early access?

Red2112 -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 6:43:10 PM)

I agree @Kuokkanen. Just trying to put some common sense in todays world. I do miss being able to buy four pairs of Levis at $16 each and wear the hell out of them! Now itīs like $100 a pair, so you better keep good care of them!

Darn it! Here I go complaining again! [:(]

Or: how many games are NOT early access?

So I decided to find out. Yesterday (13.9.18) is listed 50 new releases on Steam. Yeah, I counted them:
Available now (NOT early access): 36
Early access: 6
Coming soon: 8

Are there too many games in early access?

Red2112 -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 7:56:48 PM)

Games in EA on Steam...

Red2112 -> RE: Early Access (9/14/2018 8:22:34 PM)

That dosent mean that everybody is unhappy with some of those EA titles. Some games surely benefit from EA, some feed themselves and grow bigger in EA. My main complain is for those that are un-finished, un-playable (and/or limited play) and remain, or have very littel to no work put into them.

If you finish the core game and then add or better the game, then thatīs just great. But donīt break the game while doing that. Thereīs plenty of one man teams that are slow but constantly adding/building there EA game, which I fully respect and support. As long as the price is right, and you donīt spend a life time doing so, then hey the concept may work. The problem is with those "other" EA projects that become abandonware and burn the consumer in general.

Early Access, kickstarters are inovating wise buissnes schems which helps (in theory) those who donīt have a triple A company behind them, as long as itīs done in a honest and resonable way. The problem is when this bussines schem has been abused or used fraudulent...

demyansk -> RE: Early Access (9/16/2018 12:46:59 AM)

Lots of games but no time to play a lot of the.

Mobeer -> RE: Early Access (9/17/2018 11:27:05 PM)

I've been following Victory at Sea Pacific. Judging by the reviews and forum comments it is still in early access, just not labelled as such. Labelling the game as in early access might helped tone down the level of criticism.

Kennethnichols -> RE: Early Access (11/22/2018 6:54:30 AM)

Yeah You saying right.
