Agathosdaimon -> Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (9/9/2018 12:33:02 AM)

Heya!
the recent mention of the TU again here in the forum just brought to my something i have been meaning to query - does anyone here have any of the extra campaign disks/scenarios for Tigers on the Prowl and Panthers in the Shadows? I have both the boxed main games, and there were so extra scenarios at HPS but all those campaign disks i cannot find anywhere and HPS says they no longer have them, so i am just hoping that maybe someone here has them and could share them/sell them?

regards

Same here. I still have the two games and the free scenarios available on HPS website, but I lost the expansion disks in the mist of time (let's not forget: it was 1995 or so). Years ago I heard that the originals, too, are somehow lost.

Great games, even if the graphics were ugly for a mid '90s game - go figure. I run them under DOSBox, and I always keep a backup copy on DropBox. A remake with only better graphics and a more modern UI would be an insta-buy.

after having some further communication with teh HPS folks it seems that sadly all the expansions disk information was lost after all these years, the only hope would be for someone haviing the actual disks and if they would either provide the contents or sell the expansions disks. fortunately there are still a good number of scenarios for these 2 games

dox44 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/17/2019 10:55:54 PM)

i have HPS campaign disks. the small disks. numbered 1-10 with Tigers on the Prowl and Panthers in the Shadows + update disks.
its been a while but they are boxed and safe.

also in box are Schwerpunkt Izyum
V for Victory Gold Juno Sword + Victory Pack
Avalon Hill Stalingrad
Avalon Hill Operation Crusader

and some other stuff.

dox44 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/17/2019 11:35:39 PM)

tried to upload a photo of disks.

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:05:17 AM)

oh wow thats amazing thatsomeone still has them, i guess though would it be possible to provide the extra scenarios to us or is that perhaps not allowed. or maybe provide the contents back to hps for them to make available? or to myabandonware.com if that is scott hamilton would be okay with that

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:08:13 AM)

though just on further thought - what are the campaign disks? are they even for TOTP/PITS?

RyanCrierie -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:31:05 AM)

Where do you live? If you're not too far from the DC area, I could drive to image them for everyone.

I actually went through a phase of collecting old 3.5" disks and imaging them, so I know some of this stuff.

dox44 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 1:21:49 AM)

i live in the woodlands, texas, just north of houston. i got them in a trade about 20 years ago. they've survived 2 or
3 hurricanes and 3 house moves. honestly i can't remember much about anything in the box. first time i've taken them out
since the trade.

i will help. the disks have been stored. never got wet or anything.

dox44 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 1:31:28 AM)

some have "panthers" on them; some have "tigers" on them.

One disk is titled "dragons in the mist"...an add on for Tigers or Panthers.

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 1:53:30 AM)

oh cool all sounds great, it would be marvellous to get copies of their contents, you might be the last hope in the world helping preserve and share the disk contents

RFalvo69 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 8:47:00 AM)

I'm very interested in a copy, too. Is this thing doable?

demyansk -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 9:10:24 AM)

I sold the Panthers games years ago. I still have the V for Victory boxes. I just liked them. The good ole dos days

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 9:20:49 AM)

well for me and others i am sure, those good ole dos days never have to end :) there is so much i missed out on from that era and i find myself playing dos games far more than windows games of late - my great joy of late being Digital Integration's Tornado flight sim, DID's EF2000 V2.0, EA's Seal Team, Spectrum Holobyte's Falcon 1, and Fleet Defender - one of Microprose's best sims i think

on the strategy side - Great Naval BattleS Guadalcanal and Flight Commander 2 - all such a pleasure and challenge to play when i have time to do so

pkpowers -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:20:30 PM)

If interested I have on original 3.5 disk ;
1. HPS Broken Alliance

2. Tigers on the prowl 2

3. Campaign disk # 11 (I think it is for Panthers in the shadows)

I know I have more, still looking

also have Harpoon 2 and Tacops 1

wodin -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:34:12 PM)

Anyone know how long data can stay accessible regarding a floppy or hard disk?

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 12:38:06 PM)

not sure, but get that data uploaded and saved asap - i like to buy old games and a few too many times i get one with 3.5inch disks with corrupted files on them - i try and repair what i can

demyansk -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/18/2019 9:51:26 PM)

U guys using emulators for this stuff? I loved to play the game Panzers East

Agathosdaimon -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/19/2019 1:19:15 AM)

i use Dosbox for TOTP and PITS, - was Panzers East a dos game. I dont have any other emulators except WinUAE and C64. I wouldnt mind though playing some old Atari ST/Apple 2e games if there are emulators for these- SSI's Battlecruiser i woud like to play and it was never released on Dos

Dragons in the Mist is a TOP2 series game in it's own right (It covers the PTO). DIM is not an addon or scenario disk.

I believe Panzers East was a Trash 80 (aka TRS-80) game by Avalon Hill?

Blond_Knight -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/19/2019 10:19:57 PM)

Im curious how "free" a distribution of TOTP/PITS is?
The reason I say this is I bought a physical copies of both about ten years ago, along with the scenario editor.
AND I edited the executable of each to skip the keyword lookup in the manual at start.
I think I still have them but dont want to run afoul of HPS for giving away something they havent sold in 15 years.

demyansk -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/19/2019 10:40:47 PM)

Correct, you just popped in numbers, I played it on a c64. Now, don't play much

dox44 -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/19/2019 11:52:46 PM)

dosbox DIM. never used dosbox. need to make the window a little larger

he'll figure it out...

also had been worried about the manual but i found it in perfect condition in another box.

Is there a way to contact HPS about it? I'm really interested in a copy of both the scenario disks and Dragons in the Mist (the PTO version of the game).

Edit: Heck! From what I heard, HPS itself could be interested in a copy, given that they lost many of the originals [:D]

Blond_Knight -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/21/2019 1:27:31 AM)

Ive fired off a query to HPS to see if they care if I put the files up on Dropbox.
Im assuming they will care, but who knows.

hapshott -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/21/2019 10:19:52 PM)

WoW. I didn’t expect that pits and totp was still used by so many of us.

I think that these old games are much better than Poa 2.5 and TU. I find Poa and TU too slow in the run phase.

I hope that the disks can be shared.

Fingers crossed

Blond_Knight -> RE: Tigers on the Prowl/Panthers in the Shadows exp disks (10/23/2019 11:02:55 PM)

Good News! Rich told me Scott has given his approval to freely distribute TOTP/PITS provided its understood there will be no support.

Here's what I have, sadly I dont have any of the expansions.
TOTP-PITS folders
