You can be that artist just need to save them on your pc in bmp format works best when you get to editing parts IIRC, the large the image you start w/ the better it becomes if needing to shrink. I use MS Paint & save them in 1024x768 size as bmp then rename as the Openload file for using on opening or something like that. It's been ages since I did any editing of my game art & I'm not at my home pc to look at filenames etc

The CL in the background implies this was the attempt to take out the picket boat that sighted the Doolittle raid a day early from the planned launch. The cruisers and the aircraft proved quite inept at hitting the small target (it didn't get quite that close to the CL!). Given how early in the war that was, it is conceivable that the various CV airgroups had a mix of models of aircraft aboard, perhaps with some still in peacetime paint scheme because they couldn't be spared for a few days for painting. The fighters would be Wildcats - which I assume is what you meant to type! [:)]

The dark blue fighter in the left of the picture looks more like a Hellcat to me. That is why I reacted. I may be wrong. No Hellcats in service at Doolittle's raid.

The wings mounted mid-fuselage are a characteristic of the Wildcat.

The fighters are F4F Wildcats. Note the placement of the six guns. On the F6F they would all be together. Note the round cowling and barrel looking fuselage of the Wildcat, as opposed to the mre elliptical shape of the F6F, and as noted, the wings are mounted mid fuselage, whereas the F6F are near the bottom.
Not sen in the pic for the one on the left is the fact the wheels retract into the fuselage(as in the plane on the right), whereas the F6F wheels fold into the wings.

Nothing to do with the pic, the F6F is a very big plane...the size of the Republic P-47!...

The smaller F4F is why they were carried on the CVE's thruout the war, (F4F and FM models)...The Hellcat was just too damned big, lol.

Once again, very nice link. I really like the pictures of Dutch and Italian ships. They don't get much coverage in most sites.

I can visit this site when I'm abroad or at airports in other countries. I'm a sailor.
5 years ago this site was opened. Then it was closed, I do not understand why?

I think you will have to ask your government that ... or maybe it's better not to!

Edward75 -> RE: American wallpaper or load screens (9/15/2018 11:14:04 PM)

It does not matter. There are more serious problems in life.
I'm glad that you liked this site. I really like him too!
In it constantly appear new photos in good quality and in color!
Enjoy watching!
