How do I set a specific ingress and egress route to a CAP mission area?

I'm playing around with Flight Tutorial #8, learning how to set up missions, and trying to minimize my hands-on and see how well I can do using strictly missions.

If you are not familiar with the tutorial scenario #8, basically there are a bunch of enemy fighters that are inbound, followed by bombers, with EW support lingering in the rear.

I want to task my stealth fighters to get into the enemies rear area and take out the EW support and bombers. Flying directly takes them through the incoming fighters, which obviously is not good.

Basically I set up two CAP missions -- Syria West and Syria East. My stealth fighters are assigned to Syria East, and I need to route them through Jordan to get them around the incoming fighters, which are being dealt with by Falcons and Eagles in Syria West.

Is this a sensible mission plan?

You cannot set ingress/egress routes to a patrol mission to the best of my knowledge, and I am not familiar with the tutorial you speak of, but I think you can do what you describe with a basic mission.

1. Set a small A2A Patrol Zone off to the flank where the Ftrs don't transit the enemy patrol zone
2. Set a prosecution zone that covers the EW
3. Let it run.

See diagram.

Is this what you're trying to do? I call this an offset PZ and have used it to try and fool players with the AI tactics before but it doesn't always work.

Yes, that pretty much describes what I'm trying to do. I will give it a try and let you know how it works. Thanks!
