Hi all, having trouble understanding map color conventions. I have national colors off. Why is allied France on the European continent a different color than , say Algiers, and then 5ish hexes below Algiers, the color of a clear hex changes again? Why on the zoomed out map are Germany and allied France the same color? Why with national colors on are Sweden and Norway the same color? Also anyone know of a mod that makes the color differences more distinct? Thanks!

Hi

Different weather zones can have different colors, e.g. desert hexes will have a different color from North West Europe.

In terms of Norway and Sweden having the same color with National colors on, if they are both neutral then they will display the color applicable to neutral Minors. If one of them enters the war, or is conquered, then it will then display a different color to the other.

Bill

Yea I see the desert hexes, but these are both clear hexes owned by France. I also see now that in Poland where I'm currently invading there are hexes that have turned axis color even though I haven't conquered them yet and are under polish control and multiple hexes from my front line.

In Poland, both sides exert an influence and so your forces can effectively capture hexes adjacent to them without necessarily moving into those hexes if they will exert a superior influence than their opponents, where the hexes are contested.

However, hexes that contain resources cannot change hands this way, units would have to move into the resources themselves to take them.
