Every couple of weeks in 1941 (at least till November, don't know beyond, yet) the Soviet side gets some hefty AP bonuses beyond the "usual" 50 points. The amount differs (may be random-ish?), but last turn (21) I got a crazy 300!

Not complaining! Not at all. But what is the rationale behind this? Once a month STAVKA sobers up and gets into an admin frenzy? Any historical explanation/background to this repeating early Christmas?

When a new soviet Front HQ enter into play, you get a big AP bonus with him.

I think the first one is the Reserve Front.

And my turn 21 is when both the Caucasus and Transcaucasus MDs go Front, hence the mega-bonus.

When I play as Soviets, I think of it as a jackpot, like the Rote Kapelle hacked into the Reichsbank secure network and secretly transferred a huge balance from a Goering 4-year plan account to one of our secret cover Swiss bank accounts. Can't explain design justification except as an aid to good players who need to make a ton of SU reassignments and strategic HHQ re-shuffles in 1941. For 1941, many of my senior Red Army commanders already have some pretty generous skill/exp numbers, so ultimately the AP bonus windfall has to be a playbalancing boat-floater. Perhaps in WitE2 we'll see a less abstract means of exchange to pay for admin changes - something related to payments with experience, morale, readiness or movement points.

I think the idea is that when a new Front HQ comes into play, you need to transfer three or so armies into it. That would be 120-odd AP if you were taking them from existing fronts. But now we have learned and keep those STAVKA armies unassigned until the new fronts come in.

Can look at it another way....if you wanted to create the historical Red Army you would probably need an extra 100 AP a week...and it is expensive to change commanders when historically it wasn't

It's a jackpot!! I just can't wrap my capitalistic military brain around a "freebie" AP bonus, so I gratefully accept it in the spirit with which it is given [;)] and spend it elsewhere to offset the high price of emergency reorganization (and have my babushka light the candle next to her Svetiy Nikolai icon).
