philsublime -> Scenarios that fit the game system the best (10/8/2018 2:51:41 PM)

I'm really trying to get into TOAW IV now. After playing around with many other pc wargames, I finally concluded, that TOAW IV is the best Investment for my time. Now I listened to an old 3-moves ahead Podcast in which Bruce Geryk and others discuss TOAW III. I have great respect for Mr. Geryks opinions and find them to be very much in line with my own. In summary, it seems that some scenarios fit the game system very well and some really don't. Of course I can try it out myself, but having limited time I was wondering what some of your favorite scenarios are. Scenarios which fit the game system the best that is.

I was googling but couldn't find an existing thread about it. Maybe there is. Sorry for my somehow limited english skills. Hope I could get across what I mean. Maybe someone listened to this podcast as well...

My personal opinion is, that TOAW is perfect for limited campaigns and operations; hence it's name. I like regimental or battalion sized units. In case you haven't discovered my Tutorial sandbox scenarios, here they are:

I think my two all-time favourites are:

Cuba '62
It's a fairly low unit count (playing as the US, at least) and is a mix of amphibious landings, land operations, managing air forces, and even some ships. Lots of nice flavour events (news entries) to help immersion.

East Front 1915
Very well done scenario and an interesting challenge as the Central Powers. You have all the tools to make big advances but you need to plan it well to really pull it off. Can help getting used to effective turn-time management. The Russian AI is well taught how to delay and frustrate your efforts at overruning it.

Thank you very much for your answers. I'll definitely check out the Tutorials from Oberst Klink and the Cuba 62 scenario. Herr Oberst, when you say slides, you mean those in the thread? Or are they supposed to be in the dropbox folder?

The slides or screenshots are within the threads. You can copy them into a .DOC, make your own notes etc and you got a nice tutorial manual IMHO. As soon as the latest patch is released I'll continue the series with the Tutorial '50+; post-WW2 struggle in the 'colonies'.
