sstevens06 -> Upgraded to Public Beta 1126b - Question (10/10/2018 1:51:58 AM)

Got a new laptop and took the opportunity to upgrade to Public Beta 1126b (previously on V 1.7.11.24). Looks like everything works, my saved games load and run, switches work, etc. However when I look at Anti-Aircraft values for my ships they appear much lower than in the previous Version.

Is this expected behavior or am I missing something?

Did you actually compare specific ships from the stock and beta?

Yaab,

Here are a couple of examples of what I am seeing:

Anti-Aircraft values (note these ships are at the same Upgrade level across both versions)

V 1124:
CV Wasp = 1982
CVL Independence = 1134
CL Santa Fe = 1389
DD Chevalier = 577

V 1126b:
CV Wasp = 885
CVL Independence = 405
CL Santa Fe = 697
DD Chevalier = 290

I believe you're missing something here as those v 1124 numbers appear to be from latter in the war. AFAIK there's absolutely no difference in the two updates above. Remember the updates were done by MichaelM and only changed the .exe, nothing in the database should have been altered.

GetAssista -> RE: Upgraded to Public Beta 1126b - Question (10/11/2018 6:52:51 PM)

Yeah, those cited 1124 figures are values from 1943-44 upgrades while 1126 ones are early in the war

Thank you for your replies. Yes, my game is now up to 9/21/1943 but all the ships I reported on above were all upgraded to their most current levels in both V1124 and V1126b.

I have been playing this game Allies vs. Japanese AI for several years, upgrading WitP-AE along the way. I recall one update (V1124, can't be sure) really boosted the AA values for ships across the board.

rustysi mentioned these WitP-AE updates were only for the .exe. Is it possible I missed a database update along the way? Since I had a fresh laptop I re-downloaded all the installation packages from Matrix. Started with the original Setup package, then applied the V1124 update, then finally the V1126b update. And here we are...

This would be a scenario data thing. You should reinstall Andy's scenario updates.

Exactly. As noted in this thread, the beta's do not touch the database, and even the last official release (v1.124 in 2015) still uses the old 2010 AI and data files. The linked thread shows you how to fix that.

Kull, yes this is exactly what I needed. Forgot all about these updates. Thank you very much!

I'm in awe at how well supported such a "vintage" game is. [&o]
