When playing Allies, I like to put a lot of otherwise unneeded xAKs and all AK/APs hauling supplies to Cape Town. I will build up millions there. Think of that many more supplies available to the Chinese. Extra thousands per month don't go very far compared to hundreds of thousands.

I keep the smaller xAKLs for supplying small bases.

+1 on the amount of supply. I once took most of the South China coast and began dumping in supply. There were a lot of holes in the Japanese defence lines so the supply got to basically every Chinese unit. It took 4 Million supply before the red and yellow ! symbols disappeared and units started to fill out. But in the meantime their morale picked up around 10+ points and they got some upgrades in artillery. That was enough to halt Japan's advance and with a couple of million more supplies the Chinese began to push back in several places. Japan could not concentrate enough to cover everywhere, so the breakthroughs started and played heck with Japanese supply lines. Beginning of the end for Japan.
The best part is that Chinese units have a lot of AV and can take over garrison requirements. I pick units with lousy leaders for garrison and I split units to make smaller garrisons.

Chinese definitely have lots of crappy leaders... [:D] Another problem is that quite a few of good combat leaders have abysmal Admin rating. That is not good for replacements etc.

China in game is now mostly without !-symbols, so all is good. More supply on the way from Indochina.

Another tip.

You can run your Naval search at 50% with additional ASW set to 10%. this way you also train ASW and can sometimes get lucky against subs.

Fatigue and ops losses are not major issue.

Master plan in China.

Garrison requirements will put a dent into Allied attack power...but..so be it.

First B-29 squadrons have arrived, so trying to start strategic bombing of Japan in this month. This needing bases as close as possible.

From above and from previous amphibious assaults, you can see how deadly those tank battalions are.

BBfanboy -> RE: Sardaukar's another Newbie Campaign 3rd take) (4/17/2020 4:37:00 AM)

Nice job at Wake! That second BB bombardment was more nuclear than any I recall seeing. You showed the value of heavy bombardments with the landing and lots of firepower with the landing troops. In my own game, I find the TD units to have great punch. They can take on forts of almost any size.

Indeed!

Tanks and TDs are must in atoll invasions. Ditto AGC ship with Amph Force HQ loaded and prepped for target. Those are real "game changers".

Also when CD guns are expected, BBs/CAs in landing force are important to soak possible damage.

I have also used ADM with best possible Land rating commanding Amph TF. Not sure if it helps, but I think so, USN has at least one with Land: 66 or so, I think his name is Hill.

Dadstardly Es continue to haunt my subs...they are deadly now that IJN ASW has improved in 1944, especially since I have to operate within their Home Island air cover. They are putting 2-4 of my SS into repairs every 2 day turn.

You can see the absolute hammering I have been getting when operating near Home Islands.

Obviously I am operating "danger close" to HI with massed subs...some might use more cautious approach...

1944 has not been a good year for USN submarines...

BBfanboy -> RE: Sardaukar's another Newbie Campaign 3rd take) (4/17/2020 3:35:14 PM)

A lot of players advocate using Fletcher DDs to clear out the Super-Es. The DDs are hard for air strikes to hit so losses to them are tolerable and the Es disappear quick when the Fletchers are about.

The other thing to keep subs survivable is to set patrol zones that jog into enemy air cover range and then back out for several days. That breaks any MDL they have from spotting the sub and keeps the ASW ships off its back.
