Tamas -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 12:21:23 PM)

We never disclose the price before release, sorry.

That is the most absurd thing about Matrix marketing. I hope this will change someday.

Hexagon -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 1:54:56 PM)

I think "no give price" politic is negative for company because game is going to be released in a period with a heavy competition for customer €/$ if you release it in april or september... but closer to holidays with Steam and even Matrix specials...

I think the title is going to be around Campaign Middle East price, 37-38€ could be lower (last titles i follow had a lower price than i expected) but i prefer have the middle price in my head even when are titles like Flashpoint with 45€.

Yep, it actually works against them, as if people know the price ahead of time they can come to terms with it (or not). Sticker shock on the day of release by withholding the price (for no reason) is a great way to drive away impulse buyers, and an incredibly outdated way of thinking.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 6:45:56 PM)

If not having a price before release is going to wreck your life up to release day, just believe it to be some over the top amount and then be happy on release day when it is less. The only real thing lost by waiting, is the number of people who would complain about the posted cost before the game comes out on the forums. As a side note, getting into pricing and packaging options for a release is one of the last things dealt with since there are a number of variables that aren't known until the end is near. Things like printed manual(s) and release venues (Steam and others) comes to mind. Matrix and the game developers are not trying to stick it to anybody by waiting. Knowing a few weeks out isn't likely to change a no-sale compared to a knowing when it comes out. We will all know in few weeks and act accordingly based on the revealed cost. [8D]

Hexagon -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 7:36:25 PM)

Well, as customer i prefer know the price before release simple to dont have a surprise in release date (impulse buys and price are very related even when here matrix-slitherine usually are doing good job with games previews and in a game like AB this helps flat the road to buy) and of course to made my own "maths" because i follow other games.

In the moment you have a release date i doubt you dont have the price and have both at same time for me is not a 2018 standard... i see this in previous decade.

JiminyJickers -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 7:45:45 PM)

It is also for the customer's budgeting reasons. If I know what it costs, I can plan to set aside money for it. If the price is too high, then I will have to wait to buy it instead of being fully ready.

I'm probably buying it regardless, because I'm really interested in the game, but whether I get it this year or next depends on the price.

Grim.Reaper -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 9:35:40 PM)

Although in this case it doesn't really matter to me since I plan to purchase unless some crazy amount and I respect the company's right to do what they want, just typically don't understand the logic. Most games on Steam and in general mainstream (especially where you can pre-order), the price is stated in advance. Sure you'll have some people like it, others question it, but that will happen anyways before or after release.

And please don't use the line that announcing pricing for niche games is different somehow:) I guess one could argue the audience is smaller and if somehow they feel people will be scared off before release more than if announced on release day, then maybe....but not sure I would agree. I know someone from the company will be along shortly to say they have the experience and sales data to back up their approach so I guess we need to trust....its not going to change.

Again, no big deal for me since I plan to pull the trigger, but completely understand how others would feel different....

nikolas93TS -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 9:45:51 PM)

Well, believe it or not but even we, the developing team, don't know the price yet. I think this is the most hectic stage of development and arguing about the price is left for the end when everything is summed up.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Cost (10/25/2018 11:10:32 PM)

Good luck with closing things out Nikolas!

Searry -> RE: Cost (10/26/2018 5:50:56 PM)

Since I have become a customer of this company I have always been puzzled by weird stuff like this which belongs in the nineties. It simply has no place in the modern market where you buy a game and then download it.
High speed internet has been a thing since the mid point of the previous decade.

jreynol2 -> RE: Cost (10/26/2018 5:55:13 PM)

I just wanted to add that this clearly has nothing to do with the actual developers of the game, just matrix and their bizarre old-school way of operation. I hope the game is a smashing success for you and the team Nikolas!

Hexagon -> RE: Cost (10/27/2018 10:37:04 AM)

Obviously i dont blame devs for something is a publisher decision, is maybe the only thing i dislike in matrix-slitherine, keep a 90s marketing feature that today hurt them a lot... i dont expect preorders-early access because the type of games is very "code to the last minute HURRAAAA!!!!" but have an idea about price of game 4-6 weeks before release is not ask for something strange or freak.

In my case i am going to buy the game but i am going to delay it because is in the middle of a period where everybody wants sell you something and i enter in the "kid in a sweets shop" mode [sm=Christo_pull_hair.gif]... apart if i only buy for me i could finish [sm=fighting0056.gif]

Paveiv -> RE: Cost (10/28/2018 10:37:46 PM)

Reason for not sharing the price aside, I really do not get the complaints. You must know right now what amount of money will you be willing to spend on the game when it is released so if you have them, put them aside. It is not like the release is that far so you would have them tied up for a long time. If the price on the release is more, you wouldn´t have bought it anyway. If less, hurray, you can spend the difference on a nice moustache trim or whatever. And one last if - if you do not have the money, you would have to keep saving anyway. Damn, I must really be bored to participate in this :-)

Really looking forward to the game, keep up the good work!

samspackman -> RE: Cost (11/1/2018 11:08:06 AM)

The game will be USD $39.99 or USD $29.99. There you go! You can now budget accordingly!

That's what we thought about CMANO. Imagine our surprise when it was released at $89.99.

samspackman -> RE: Cost (11/2/2018 7:14:24 AM)

I don’t think this game is comparable to CMANO! If anything it is more like TOAW4 or Desert War – it’s an update by a small developer of a previous game (that you can still get) that includes a bevy of improvements in gameplay and UI. TOAW4 is… $39.99. Desert War is also $39.99. I will post my next Matrix anniversary discount coupon on this forum if AB is more than $39.99.

jwarrenw13 -> RE: Cost (11/2/2018 10:07:31 PM)

I honestly don't see the problem here. The whole discussion sounds Steam-ish to me.

Rosseau -> RE: Cost (11/2/2018 11:00:07 PM)

After the hundreds of dollars I pretty much wasted on Harpoon and its dlc's and many iterations, CMANO is well worth it.

This game may be around $40. Speaking of Steam, there was nothing on the Halloween sale to tempt me. This game I know what I am getting, and am buying either way. Although I really do respect Valve for its refund policy. All of us have bought some unexpectedly bad games at one time or another!

Hexagon -> RE: Cost (11/3/2018 10:38:43 AM)

Well to be fair i prefer buy in matrix/slitherine over do it in Steam, i like have game installer and i can allways register game later in Steam if i want have game avaliable where i need it without a physic support for installer.

Price is something very personal, CMANO was a little [X(] but the oposite situation was present to (FOGII and Sanctus Reach) maybe i am now in a situation where i prefer have info before release to made my numbers for a title i want have.

Rob322 -> RE: Cost (11/15/2018 6:10:07 PM)

I never thought $80-90 for CMANO was too high. After five years I consider it almost free!
