As a new player it is a mystery as to what would make sense to build ahead. But after last game I’ve begun to realize that if the allies wish to improve their score they need to hit factories and oil hard and often. The one thing that is better than anything else to do this? The B-29! In the last two years the US almost has production points to burn so building B-29s early could be worth it...?

The only thing that I have ever found worthy of building ahead is FTR-2s. Air superiority is critical, and the US, CW, and Germany are all capable of building out their FRT-2 force pools. However, even with the FTR-2 force pool built out, I rarely build ahead; not only does the force pool have to built out, it has to be no later than J/A in the year. It is clearly insane to build ahead in N/D, and even S/O makes little sense.

Often thought of German engineers but never seemed to have the BPs...

Thanks - HQs ... did not think of that but of course - HQs are essential for success.
I’ve noticed that the German airforce remains potent in terms of quality and quantity even when Germany is in decline. Germany tends to retain downed pilots in the later igame so can pull second rate Planes out of reserve too. The soviet planes never quite catch up and only until the P-51s show up does Germany get overwhelmed in the air.

I like the B-29 because it can hold its own and do lots of damage at great range- leaving fighters to support ground efforts. But one has to always weigh the cost...
