I'd love to see a new turn-based ACW operational and/or tactical game. I've been looking at Brother Against Brother but it's not what I want - too limited graphically and too slow moving.

I'm considering one of the John Tiller Civil War games but they're also not the greatest graphically, although the new 3d mode is a big improvement.

Anything on the horizon?

I haven't played any of the Tiller Civil War games, but have played several of the WWII Panzer Campaigns games. While the stock games were hideously ugly, with some of the mods, the games were actually beautiful--nothing especially flashy, but very easy on the eye.

Meanwhile JTS has updated all of the Panzer Campaigns East Front games to "Gold Editions" which essentially incorporate the graphics mods (and some other changes), all for free--very nice.

That said, I didn't care for the JTS Napoleonic games at all--just not very atmospheric IMHO.

The WWII games have a demo, hopefully the Civ War games do as well.

This is something I would consider adding to my collection, seems like it might be turn based, perhaps a carry-over style. Be interested checking out videos of this game before any commitment.

Grand Tactician does look promising but I don't think it's turn based.

altipueri -> RE: Civil War Operational/Tactical Game (11/10/2018 10:46:30 AM)

Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Forge of Freedom
Take Command Second Manassas
Ageod's American Civil War
Ageod's Civil War 2

These give me enough Civil War

Ah, just remembered, I have Sierra Civil War Generals 2; and Ultimate General Gettysburg.

I'm also playing a Civil War scenario from The Operational Art of War - it's on 8km hexes and one day turns which good for an operations level scenario.

I would add Ultimate General: Civil War to the list too.

Hi

I was invited to join the test team. I have a lot of information here. I update as far as NDA allows. It is early days yet but I like what I have seen/played so far.

Regards
