x6ftundx_slith -> what does this do to the inf (6/15/2001 4:28:00 AM)

So im having a blast running my grunts ontop of enemy grunts and doing melee, but this is the first time I ever saw a unit go bezerk. What does this do to the inf? I have to say this game is getting better and better everytime I play it :) Commando Solo

Normally when you melee you have to pass a "gut check" or you "cower" and the enemy usually does a number on you. SOme units (I forget if its just some nationalities or not...I thin its anybody) units will, if they fail and teh enemy passes, get a 2nd chance to pass (now that they see the enemy coming for them) if they pass that 2nd "gut check" they "go Berserk". Berserk units get a bonus attacking and always attack first, and then are attacked by the enemy suvivors. Normal melee if both sides pass is "simulatanueos" unless a unit "cowers" then it gets a combat penelty and only its suviors attack back. [ June 14, 2001: Message edited by: Paul Vebber ]

I agree that SPWAW just keeps getting better! This kind of battlefield realism is just great. I was dubious when I first read the threads asking for overrun and melee but Matrix has implemented them very well.

The melee really comes in handy when fighting in the cities. Last nite I hand 2 Russian SMG squads on top of a German Engineer unit in a fortified position and the Germans were able to melee them off. Love the sound FXs.
