Lanzfeld -> Question About Mission Targets (11/27/2018 7:55:49 PM)

I have a question that I just cannot nail down.

Lets say I have an enemy airbase selected that I want to attack. Lets say there are 6 buildings that I want to hit.
I select the airfield and create a mission so all 6 buildings are in the target list.
Lets say I have 2 A-6's with a load of 12 Mk82's each.
I select 2 of the buildings as the targets and launch them as a group.

Will one A-6 attack the first building and the second A-6 attack the second or will they BOTH go for the first building and I have to make a second group to attack the second building?

If I select all 6 buildings with just one group of two A-6's will they make multiple runs to kill all building? Would they do this if I selected them to use just two Mk 82's on each building in the WRA?

This is very confusing. A flight of six would attack all six buildings?...or would they all go for one?

there is no easy way to answer what they will do.

they aren't going to plan it as well as you probably think- what will likely happen is that

A-6 #1-n will enter range against the first building they come across (depending on their flight plan) WRA says "use all weapons against this target.." they will release the whole bomb load against that target and then bug out.

since the flight plan can be pretty random, as well as who arrives where, which targets die, etc etc.) what gets attacked, damaged and/or destroyed will vary. a lot. your best bet is to do 1 mission 1 target, or to manually allocate weapons once they arrive at the target, as otherwise who attacks what and when with what weapons is going to be very, very random.

Hey thanks for the response. [:'(]
Yeah the testing that I tried has so many different outcomes.

i generally use manual weapon allocation if the targets are close together, that way you can make sure that there will be weapons on every target.

this is not generally necessary for AAW/SEAD escorts, as long as you set their WRA. guided bombs (especially S/O weapons) can also be manipulated via WRA very effectively, since their TOF is high enough that you can make sure that the AI will have time to allocate weapons to all targets before the first launches start impacting.

dumb bombs though, i always do manually if i have more than one target.
