Hi... would it be possible to implement trucks in order to simulate motorized elements of a division? AT guns mortars ATGMs should be motorized and linked to a truck to some extent....

Trucks and tankers can be used when siming logistics. But re-supply is way down the road right now.

Well at least a motorization of infantry assets should be done to some extent... hate having to haul the atgm halfway across the battlefield without motorized assistance

This issue was raised in the alpha and beta testing, from what the developers said, the AI would not be able to use soft skin vehicles ie trucks etc. Personally I cannot see why. If there is the likes of M113's and FV432's in the game, they are only a form of tracked armored transport and the likes of Saxon, BTR70 etc and they are only a form of wheeled armoured transport. Remove the armored component of a wheeled armored APC and it would be a "soft" vehicle.

Also when an APC loses its passengers and passengers loose there APC, an APC that has lost its passengers cannot pick up any other infantry unit and passengers that have lost there APC, cannot mount an APC that has lost its passengers. What happens is you end up with APC's advancing with no passengers and infantry walking along behind empty APC's.

Both these issues are glaring faults in the game as in real life it would happen.

Be aware some support weapons are classed as immobile even though they are man packable or man portable in real life so if you do an advance to contact, they could not follow the infantry and eventually they would move out of range of such units and get no support from them. In the UK faction, I have altered the database to allow the 81mm mortar and 120mm RCL to be man portable and now they will move with my infantry units.

Veitikka -> RE: Suggestion... trucks (11/29/2018 6:08:01 PM)

The AI opponent is the main issue. I don't think the AI should be charging with trucks in wedge formation. Trucks should be used very differently than armored fighting vehicles. If a truck is used to carry an AT-gun to a position then the truck should be hidden smartly, and used again when the time is right to change positions etc.

Similarly if any transport was allowed to pick any infantry unit then the AI should be smart enough to use them properly, connect the right infantry units with the right transports, know the best positions where to move them and so on.

These are just a few example cases where we must make compromises to keep the game challenging for the human player. These features would reward micromanaging, and that's where the human player usually excels. The AI opponent plays to game by controlling the formations, not individual units.

hmm if there were an infantry advance order or separated formations would the trucks charge aswell? it could be that the formation unloads at a certain point before the objective defined by the amount of enemies already spotted by the AI and/or recognizing the nearest covered point X meters away from the objective and unloading there
