Bussy zu Pferd -> Display Problem 2 (12/9/2018 1:44:35 AM)

Hello

download successful and updated the game. I run Win 7-64
The game played well on windowed mode all I did to make the game work
was I set the 1920 x 1080 32pp,60 HZ on any other setting the game
crashes.

Cheers

did none of these suggestions work then?

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4399027

if not post a report and lets see the hardware and have an idea on what maybe wrong

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then permitted to attach to the forum.

Thanks for your reply zacblood

Game version after applying the patch 6.00
The game worked with the display 1920 x 1080 32pp,60 HZ till I started and then closed a Operation Game
after that the game crashes every time I click on Play Game
I tried to change display, tried to run as administrator, tried to run with WinXP sec3, and troubleshooted
applying results (winxp sec2)
I add my DXDiag 64 file for your perusal...

Perplexed

Best Regards
Edo

I wonder if a corrupted savegame has been saved. Try renaming the Documents/My Games/CloseCombatLastStandArnhem/Games folder and see if that helps.

Thanks Pip, I'll give that a try.

Bussy zu Pferd -> RE: Display Problem 2 (12/11/2018 2:15:52 AM)

Hello, Pip

Thank You
changing the name of the Folder and deleting the save did the trick
I'll keep that in mind
One more question: why the Temp folder ?
besides Temp Games -Battle
-Save sub folders should I have anything else there?

Best Regards
Edo

Bussy zu Pferd -> RE: Display Problem 2 (12/11/2018 2:54:38 AM)

Hello Pip,

is there a bug in the save game procedure.
I started an Operation scenario played it till the AI closed the fight
I pressed 'Next' button and the game crashed...
Ok the German side is going to blow the bridges...is the event the end of the operation ?
If so why doesn't the game go back to the Operations Menu ?

I have noticed that the game creates another folder every time I start a scenario ops, campaign and names it CloseCombatLastStandArnhem
I changed the name by spacing each name, but the game recreates another
every time I start another game...? it ignores the folder I re-named....
If I don't delete the save the game crashes if I press play.

The game seems to crash at the point were it saves the game or an
event (the Germans blow up the bridges) if I exit the screen by hitting
NEXT I get a crash...looks like save game is the culprit.

Best Regards

Are you running Onedrive/Dropbox or some other file syncing tool which may be trying to sync the folder? Some recent changes can cause problems with files being cut off during saving.

Yes - the game will recreate its save folder each time if it is missing - it needs somewhere to save things :)

Stop being so dense. It is obvious something is bad with the savegame procedure that is making the game crash. There has been multiple reports about it. Fix it. Thanks.

PipFromSlitherine -> RE: Display Problem 2 (12/12/2018 2:54:18 PM)

Feel free to check the FoG2 forums to see the Windows changes breaking savegames that have worked for years. Not a helpful post...

Cheers

Pip
