Hairog -> Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/22/2018 5:42:38 AM)

I adapted Welk's great mod for World at War when I was beta testing so it should work. Get the files

HERE

and be sure to back up your original files.

This is what it looks like...

IronX -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/22/2018 11:14:39 PM)

Nice. I was just playing around with the board map mod. Most of it works, but some new elements were needed. And then I couldn't help myself, so I changed a few more things.

Edit: Just to be clear, this is not my mod. I only updated some images so that it works for me in WaW. The Board-Map mod is available on the SC Europe mod forum and is easy to convert with some basic photoshop skills.

Would love to get that board map mod for WaW.

Really nice, please provide it ;-)

Thanks for updating it Harry! [:)]

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/24/2018 7:39:39 PM)

My pleasure Bill. I love this mod.

Like the snow on the mountains IronX. I'm going to steal them. [;)]

gwgardner -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/24/2018 10:17:40 PM)

Is this specifically for the 1942 campaign scenario? It's labeled 1942_777

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/24/2018 11:14:20 PM)

Oops, I just forgot to rename it. I also mistakenly included the scripts etc. So until I get it cleaned up in an hour or so only use the graphics files and nothing else.

Good catch GW.

I'll see if I can rectify the situation.

Sorry about that.

gwgardner -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 1:26:05 AM)

Thanks for making it available. And of course thanks again to Welk.

Darrell999 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 1:53:51 AM)

Thanks so much for doing this!

gwgardner -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 2:35:19 AM)

Looks great. I get this popup upon starting the scenario:

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 2:47:58 AM)

I believe the download is fixed. It contains just the files you need. It works just fine in my beta version of SCWW but don't have the released version yet.

gwgardner -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 3:54:17 AM)

I added those four lines, shown in the screenshot above, to the resource.txt file and did not get the error popup anymore.

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/25/2018 5:23:08 PM)

Added GW's lines but I can't test it.

durangokid -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 6:47:11 AM)

This is such an improvement over the vanilla map, I wouldn't have bought the game without it! Great improvement and many thanks for all the work.

elmo3 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 12:05:06 PM)

I get an error message "Could not find Bitmaps\border_sprites.png."

Edit - Copied the file from my old bitmaps folder and then got an error that it couldn't find border_sprites_zoom.png. More errors came up after copying that file so I compared my old Bitmaps folder with the new one and it looks like there are a ton of missing files in the new Bitmaps folder. Going to wait for an updated file before trying this again.

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 3:44:03 PM)

Has anyone else run into these kinds of problem? If so, I will pull the download until they are solved.

elmo3 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 4:12:23 PM)

Perhaps I'm doing it wrong. I renamed Bitmaps to Bitmaps_Old and then put your Bitmaps files in place. Am I supposed to make a copy of Bitmaps as a saved version and then overwrite Bitmaps instead of replacing it?

Edit - That didn't work either. Now the game launches but it's still using the old map. Oh well, thanks anyway for the mod. Guess I'll just stick with the original map.

elmo3 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 5:11:37 PM)

Alright after more trial and error I got it to work. What wasn't at all clear to me is that you have to modify each campaign directory with the mod files rather than doing it at the highest directory level for the game. The Bitmaps directory at that highest level was throwing me off because I assumed you had to modify that one instead of the ones in the campaign directories.

elmo3 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 8:07:20 PM)

After installing the mod for the 1939-45 Race to Victory Campaign a friend and I noticed that all the Japanese HQ's now have incorrect unit names when compared to their names in the unmodded regular 1939-45 Campaign. For example, one Japanese HQ is now called the Timoshenko HQ and all the others have numbers in the HQ name instead of the correct Japanese names.

Don't install the 'text' folder that came with the zip. As far as I can tell, using the default 'text' folder works.

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 8:59:24 PM)

That makes sense GW. My text file is from the beta with the addition of your lines. I'll eliminate them from the download after work tonight.

Thanks all

With the new resources and fortifications this map looks just great.
Can you please make available this new images.

Also a great thanks for Welk and Hairog.

Hairog -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 11:14:39 PM)

I echo IronX. This mod is Welk's with a few tweaks by me. He's the man.

elmo3 -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/26/2018 11:25:08 PM)

Going back to the original Text directory fixed the problem with the Japanese HQ names.

samspackman -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/27/2018 9:06:49 AM)

I'm trying to mod this into the standard campaigns, e.g the Axis High Tide campaign sub folder in the SCWaW directory because there are no campaigns created in the My Documents directory. But even after replacing all files in the Bitmap and Text folders, plus the .ini file, I'm still stuck with the standard map.

Worked for me. Perhaps check the bitmap folder, and make sure the new files got copied over. Assuming you made a backup of the bitmap folder, just copy the whole bitmap folder over to the Hige Tide folder.

samspackman -> RE: Welk's Map Mod for World at War (12/27/2018 10:36:54 PM)

OK worked it out - I had created a back up version of SCWaW on D: that I was changing, but when I launched from there, the launcher went and loaded the files from the original install on C:.
