Aksully -> England Surrendered Completely! (12/24/2018 3:24:12 PM)

I'm following a great World at War play through by Shahmat Simplex on You Tube. After he took the last objective in England (London) completing his Sea Lion invasion he hit End Turn. When AI processed the turn a Message pops up saying "UK Surrenders"! This results in all British forces evaporating into thin air leaving all their areas empty. Egypt, Malta, Gibraltar etc and the RN ships sunk, scuttled???

We've looked at the Manual and it says if England is conquered then it relocates. So can someone associated with the game comment on this please? You can see the actual event in his, Strategic Command WWII: World at War-Axis Playthrough #11 at about 16:45 mark.

Very interested in seeing the explanation of this.

PS This is one of the very best video series I've seen on WaW!!!! And I've seen them all. Excellent for the beginner as he takes time to explain strategy, moves, decision event decisions etc.

That sounds like a bug. They should be able to relocate the capital and fight on.

Hi

Thanks for posting this, I've just seen it and have taken a look at the scripts, the trigger being Decision 106:

DE 106 – UK: Shall We Move Our Capital To Australia Or Canada?
Event fires: When London is in Axis hands, Manchester, Sydney and Toronto are in Allied
hands, and both Australia and Canada are Allied and not surrendered.
Cost of accepting: Nothing.
Yes: The UK government transfers to Sydney, Australia, and all relevant convoy routes are
amended.
No: The UK government transfers to Toronto, Canada, and all relevant convoy routes are
amended.

So if Manchester falls before London then this won't fire.

The solution could be to add in alternative Decisions for when (say) Manchester is taken before London. Or for both London and Manchester being in Axis hands, but I have a feeling there's a reason why we didn't do that. One for us to think about.

So Bill,
What happens to all the British forces in this situation? Are they just gone for good or some or all relocate elsewhere?

Why does the decision need the condition about Manchester? Couldn’t you just remove that condition?

They will have surrendered, as the concept is that the British would relocate and fight on from elsewhere.
