As the Axis, I forced Polish surrender on turn 1. This prevented the Russian event of ordering its troops into Poland. This in turn prevented the German dilemma on honouring the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.
Since this choice determines other events (Baltic States, Russian order of battle when Germany invades, …), could this have screwed up my game?

How did you do that? Some units can reach Warsaw but not enough to take out the garrison in Warsaw and take it in my experience.

The two tanks can reach Warsaw. Your other units need to clear everything in their way. This gives you 3 tank attacks (you can't use the 4th attack as this wouldn't leave enough AP's to enter the city) and 1 stuka attack from the north. Odds are against it, but it can be done.

To answer my own question: I had no problems. Germany didn't get a chance to annex Lithuania, but Russia annexed the Baltic States. The USSR treated the early Polish surrender as not honouring the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and deployed accordingly at the start of the war.
